The Ruby Hill Bike Park will be one of the largest municipal bike parks in North America. Much to the acclaim of setting the industry standard; Valmont Bike Park in neighboring Boulder, Alpine Bike Parks was the go to bike park contractor for the Ruby Hill project in Denver, Colorado. Alpine has had their heads down stacking, packing, and moving earth into what will be an all-around engaging bike park for all users. Alpine Bike Parks ensures overall project fulfillment and is in the concluding stages of delivering a world class bike park.

The Ruby Hill Bike Park and loop trail feature a series of terrain features specifically designed to promote a progressive riding and learning experience for novice riders up through expert riders. Alpine's scope of work included building highly specialized trails and riding features, jumps, pump tracks, drop zones, and custom rock features for developing riding skills in the bike park and along the loop trail in a stunning setting in Denver, Colorado.

Goodland Construction sub contacted Alpine Bike Parks in the fall of 2015 to construct the specialized bike park features and a long loop trail that wraps around the entire footprint of Ruby Hill Park. The loop trail will connect the bike park to revamped playgrounds, the Levitt Pavilion – an outdoor amphitheater that will host 50 free concerts every year – and traditional park amenities.

The loop line alone covers 2+ miles and swoops and swerves down some dynamic flow trail zones and keeps it creative with engineered trail features throughout.

The skill development zone caters to entry level riders and has all the fundamental features that will garner rider understanding and teach the elemental principles of g-force comprehension. The pumptracks keeps the g-force principal prevalent and is a perfect place for users to generate momentum and keep speed.

A drop zone with 3 levels of difficulty are situated high on the hill for a quick warm up before 4 slopestyle lines weave down Ruby Hill. From extra small to large, the slopestyle courses will provide a developmental area for users to work up to and sequentially progress down the hill.

The dirt jump portion of the park also mimics the overall step-by-step skill improvement idea, flowing freely in-between native pine trees the jumps will produce a lot of air time and with 4 dirt jump trails to pick from - it's going to be great to see the progression produced from this place.

In the winter months, Ruby Hill Park is a terrain park for skis, snowboards, and sleds aplenty. Ruby Hill is the first free winter terrain park in a downtown area in the USA. So it only makes sense for the City of Denver to convert winter operations into summer action sport activities. Hence, The Ruby Hill Bike Park - the park will be dressed up with all the fixings and then some.

The bike park is NOT open for riding, but feel free to go take a look!

The Ruby Hill Bike Park is located at South Platte River Drive and West Jewell Avenue in Denver, CO 80223.

Those wooden jumps look good. Anyone know the radius or dimensions of them?
  • 1 0
those ramps are from Progressive Bike Ramps. I think they have a catalogue online that may describe radius and size options?
  • 1 0
 @cwf517 @hotrodmarlin They're from FlowForm: www.flowformramps.com/products/cams-ramp-collection/roaster

I believe flowform is actually a part of Alpine Bike Parks? ...or at least closely associated with them. Dimensions depend on the model, but are listed under the product descriptions on the site.

@Tarka: you are correct about the flow form ramps/ Alpine Bike Parks association. however this park was designed by Progressive Trail Design and as far as I recall a 3rd party, Progressive Bike Ramps won the bid to have their ramps spec'd in the construction. last I heard that was still the case.
  • 1 0
then the final construction was done by guys working for Alpine and a local general contract oversaw the rest of the park construction. sounds pretty complicated and i'm sure it was ha. gotta love government...

thanks guys! I'm building some stuff and I really appreciate the info.
  • 1 0
@hotrodmarlin: No worries - from my experience 26" wheels do best on a radius of at least 14', as anything tighter limits your speed and height of the ramp. I prefer 16-18' for higher speed jumps. The blended radius approach is a little harder to figure out but you can mark it out using a loop of string and two pivot points... youtu.be/TEOH982-2Is
