I think underrated is the best description for Ryan Middleton. For years he has quietly built a set of skills that would rival a lot of video athletes out there, yet he hasn't had the break he's looking for. He's meticulous, determined and has pin point accuracy to ride things in a certain way. The scene up in the East of Scotland seems pretty isolated and tight knit, and perhaps that explains it.

Corner slapping on demand is one of Ryan's best skills. Not even cutties, just riding the main line as fast as possible.

Introducing the peer pressure culprits. Max Rendall (aka sleeper.co) and Mason Bryant (aka giraffe_mtb because his limbs are so long). They provided a solid amount of yelling and abuse to keep Ryan on his toes and never slacking.

How do you prevent burping the rear tire with a tubless setup when you're roosting? Or do you just have to put a tube back there?

If someone rode my trails like that I'd be waiting at the bottom with a rakehoe and firm instructions about putting the dirt back together!

If someone didn't ride my trails like that I'd be disappointed!

@gnarnaimo: I know. I know. I like to kid myself that every single one of these videos is set up with obligatory shovelling of extra loose dirt onto a pristine berm and that each one could end with a "no trails were harmed during the making of this video".
  • 2 0
I think bad berm slaps and use of the back brake can screw up berms, but I think Ryan Middleton's perfect cutties actually shape the berm better. I would be honored to have my berms smacked by a loose brit.

I see what you mean lads. Most of these tracks were built for this video and it just so turned out Scotland didn't see much rain through Autumn! Most of the time Ryan is actually on the main line but just riding it ludicrously fast.

This was soo heasy - riding, tune, filming/editing. Killa edit!
