18-year-old Sam Hodgson from the Isle of Wight is today confirmed as a new rider for Saracen. He is also being sponsored by PRO, Shimano, Maxxis, Lazer, Animal and Marzocchi. A professional dirt-jumper and freerider, Hodgson has achieved his first formal brand partnerships, which will hopefully help this young man propel his riding career onto a new and exciting level. Growing up on the Isle of Wight, Hodgson learned much of his skills from popular freeriding Zimbabwean-turned GMBN presenter, Blake Samson, who himself was a Saracen rider for a number of years.
The sponsorship is a further commitment from Saracen to help nurture young, British mountain biking talent after re-starting the Madison Saracen Development Team earlier this year, which is headed up by brand manager Jack Geoghegan.
Speaking about the new partnership, Sam said: "I could not be more stoked about being part of Saracen and the rest of the brands, being able to take my love and passion and turn it into a career is a dream come true. I’m feeling pretty lucky right now!”
Sponsorship manager at Madison and Saracen, James Champion, said: “We have known about Sam for some time due to his relationship with Blake and it has been great to see his skills develop over the years. We are really excited to get him on Saracen and see what he can do. Hopefully the help we offer him will mean he is free to pursue his personal goals and make a real impact on the mountain biking scene here in the UK.”
Welcome to the team, Sam!
