bigquotesScott Thornhill is becoming more of a household name in the Alberta area these days, with his positive attitude and a huge bag of tricks he is making his mark on the riding scene. He has been working his way through the Calgary riding scene since he was a young lad and these days you will most likely find him riding the B Line Bike Park or building one of many high-quality pumptracks and jump parks with the Jay Hoots crew. Recently he was picked up by Marin Bikes so you can be sure to see his set of skills be sprinkled across all areas of riding. With some big projects lined up, you can bet to see a lot more of Thornhill on your screen in the coming season.Kyle Mckinnon

"Scott Thornhill is becoming more of a household name in the Alberta area these days" Yes this is true. Why just this morning my kids were asking me where he would be riding today. My wife piped in wondering if he would land a double backflip this season. All the buzz in Alberta households.

Everyone has big projects lined up these days. Its like, you're not pro unless you have "some big projects lined up".
  • 2 1
@glasvagas id hope everyone has what the would consider “big projects” lined up. Gotta set goals for personal growth, homie!

I want to know how they edited out all of little kids on balance bikes going backwards down the jump tracks. Every time I've been there the place has been swarming with kids.

Now that I have found out about this place I will be adding my two kids on balance bikes to the mix!

Start em young! It’s awesome to see so many kids out there

 1) YYC. Nice.
2) Hollywood smile. New nickname: Iceman.
3) Cool thing with the tripod cam slo mo with real time going on.
4) From an old guy to a young guy...props for the mouth guard. Seems not so common, but you don't want to lose teeth if you don't have to. Or tongue bits.
5) I have no business being at B Line but that's too bad. I have a bmx so will go embarrass myself on the pump track.

wtf how did I not know there was a bikepark in calgary... been suffering all winter.

 Get out there boss!

Calgary kicks ass for biking. The Rockies are right outside the city and we have B-Line for the days when we can't ride outside.
  • 3 0
Also lift accessed bike park in the city! its nothing special but having the ability to do some park laps after work is sick! Fish creek is awesome too for some XC action in the city

Maybe label me a grumpy old man. I'm so sick of Calgary. It's much more of a vehicle city in my opinion, last time I tried to ride downtown from my house in the Southeast there was literally no way I could, and there's like 30 ways to do it in a vehicle.

@Kramz: well there's your problem, you would have the same problem in any other city on the planet if you live in a neighbourhood that isn't conducive to biking. I ride to work downtown everyday, its well maintained (and plowed) pathways and bike lanes most of the way.

@Kramz: If biking to work is your priority, then don't buy a stick home in the SE. Spend more money or buy a smaller place in the NW, North Central or SW. The only roads I have to ride on to get downtown from my place in the deep NW is crossing the street into Bowmont park, then occasional road crossing all along down the river. My buddy in Country Hills has bike paths that lead all the way downtown too.

Nice riding Scott. Loved the pump track berm transfer, super unique line!
  • 6 0
That transfer is much bigger in person too. When I saw that in the video I couldn't believe what he'd just done. Crazy!

Wish we had something like that here! All year round fun :-)

Riding just got better and better too!

I wonder how business at b line will be when the snow melts.
  • 12 0
Well they certainly picked a good winter to launch!
There's so few riding spots in Calgary that I'd bet the bmx and DJ crowds will still ride there in the summer - at least I hope they make a go of it. If Calgary can support a dozen climbing/parkour/trampoline gyms it should be able to hold on to one bike park...

We get a lot of the BC forest fire smoke, and a ample amount of rain. Many trips will be taken to B-line during the summer.
  • 3 0
@zyx8910: ample rain? i'm pretty sure it rained a total of 3 times last summer. and the smoke just strengthens your lungs i swear!
  • 3 2
I went once and it is cool but not 30$ worth, and i went in the winter. The only way that place is worth it in my opinion is if you have a 900$ anual pass
  • 2 0
@blakemoss: by that do you possibly mean the year pass that they do offer for 840???
  • 2 0
@blakemoss: I too had a little sticker shock, but then thought it was comparable with other activities, you can ride for 3-4 hours and it's both good for you and fun. 1/2 the price of a bike park or 1/4 a winter lift ticket so pricey but not out of line.
  • 1 0
@plyawn: definitely not half the price of a park pass
  • 1 1
@False: yeah i pay a little under 200$ for my panorama season pass so b line is expensive for me

I love this! Great to see a guy with such a positive attitude getting the recognition!
