Day 2 at the Laguna Seca Race Way was a surprising day. Not only was it looking like we would be getting wet this morning, we saw some bikes taped up, some greasy mustaches, some massive shocks, and a lot of Pinkbike.com "decal" equip'd bikes.
Empty wallets and fancy bikes go together like ice cream and pie. So read on and get ready to empty your wallets!Day 2 at the Sea Otter Classic went well, even though my neck is now sun burnt worse than sun tanning with water as "sun tanning lotion". Anyways, after wandering around the race way for the better part of the day with the Canon 30D I managed to snap some fancy photos of some cool products, and things I would like to share with you guys. Be afraid,
very afraid.
First stop was at the
B-Labs, or Blackbox laboratories booth. Their booth consists of a fancy van, and a greasy guy who owns it. Ok, well Tyler Morland isn't that greasy, but that mustache is hardcore if I do say so myself. The B-Labs Van had a sick high end "flat black" paint job, finished with some fancy "Blackbox" vinyl's, and topped off with some
Toyo Open Country tire's. Seeing as it's Tyler Morland's hide away, it also features a high end camo interior. Yeah that's right, when the going gets tuff, Tyler can disappear into the great outdoors that is his Van. Check this rad creation out.
Not only that, but Mr.Morland was also rocking out on his new Cove Shocker frame, in a vibrant Orange. He is featuring the
Chromag OSX in Chrome, and the new Avid Elixir brake this year, which look to be a rad set up.
Mustache Ride anyone?
I had a chance to catch up with Dave Wardell who was running some very fancy
Hope products. The Hope Components team is going to be running a green color scheme, that consists of brake levers, calipers, rotors, and even head set spacers. It is a very clean, but sick looking setup that will be flashy and noticeable on the track, and off it. Congrats to Hope Tech for the rad look! PS, this color is for Hope Team members only.
As requested by
2oldschool we stopped in at
Intense to see what all this hype on the new trail bike was all about. We had to fight and struggle to get some photos, but after some words of encouragement we got it done, and delivered the products. The new trail bike looks super rad, featuring a clean, low slung top tube, with a nicely formed headtube area. It is utilizing Intense's race and trail proven VPP (Virtual Pivot Point), and appears to be offering 5" to 5.5" of travel.
A short while ago we provided you guys with a update about the
Mongoose Nugget, which is a prototype slopestyle bike for Mongoose. Well, we met up with Andrew Cho who provided us with a photo shoot with the Nugget. It is still in the mix for 2009, but judging by the words shared they are planning to go ahead with the frame design.
Also, Andrew Neethling was at the Mongoose booth, and he had time to give us a peak at the Boot'r, which is also a new bike for
Mongoose for 2009. The boot'r is one of Mongoose's future "big bikes", and it looks sick.
Corsair bike's also had their bike collection out for everyone's viewing pleasure. Corsair bikes is a Seattle based company that was established in December 2006. They produce some sick bikes that all feature unique suspension designs, some of which feature a dual shock setup. And no, we're not talking about side by side, better yet a blow off shock system. Corsair's suspension designs are all hand drawn and unique to each bike, so if you are looking for a 1 off bike, a Corsair could very well be what your looking for.
