Share the Ride Hits Squamish, BC, and We Reach our Fundraising Goal

Dec 20, 2015
by Share The Ride
Squamish BC played host to the first Share the Ride distribution from this years fundraising efforts. Twenty Five lucky children in the community were gifted with brand new Norco bicycles this holiday season in Pinkbike.com's newly adopted hometown. Squamish is becoming world renowned for its extensive trail network but it doesn't necessarily mean that those who live here in the community have access to it or even a bike at all, with help from you, the Pinkbike user base, these kids can now truly experience the joy of riding a bike. This is the first of many distributions happening over the next few months funded by your contributions, to find out more or to make your donation visit our Share the Ride website.

Thanks to help from Sea to Sky Community Services and Darcy Reimer from the Squamish Community Christmas Care program, we were able to identify children in the community to receive the bikes. Many of them came from groups such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Sea to Sky Alternative School and Don Ross Middle School.

Helmets from Kali and locks from ABUS are included to makes sure both the riders and the bikes stay safe.

Trail riding isn't the only sport in town, Squamish also has its own BMX track and these lucky kids can now join in the fun.

The map below shows Share the Ride foundation's work over the last couple years, with your help we can get to even more locations and help get more kids on bikes.

How it works
-For every $5 donated between Nov 3rd, 2015 and Midnight PST of December 24th 2015, you will earn one chance to win the Giant Trance SX or Liv Intrigue SX bike and other listed prizes. So if you donate $25 that is 5 chances at a bunch of prizes.
-The winners will be selected from a spreadsheet using random selection.
-The winners will be notified by e-mail and asked a mountain bike related knowledge question.
-We will ship worldwide ... Customs fees and other applicable taxes will be the winner's responsibilities.
- $150 is enough to buy one child a new bike and a helmet.
- We are working with community centers, schools, youth and family service programs and other established charities and foundations to identify children from low income families who will benefit from this gift.
- We are worldwide.
- We aim to ensure that the children receiving these gifts are educated on basic bicycle safety and maintenance.

We appreciate every dollar that comes our way and we make sure it gets put to good use. So thanks for your donation and for giving disadvantaged children the chance to be a part of something wonderful.
