Thieves Hit Shimano
Some sour news from Andorra this morning, with word coming through that the Shimano big rig was broken into last night while everyone slept. No details yet as to how the criminals gained access, but the catalog of parts stolen is long enough to build up dozens of dream machines: twenty Di2 drivetrains, an unnamed number of Saint and mechanical XTR groups, and multiple sets of Shimano wheels. There were also nine complete bikes snatched, seven of which were Scott Spark demo bikes that had been built up with Di2 drivetrains.
Shimano will no doubt have the serial numbers for all of the parts and bikes taken, but the latter will surely be more difficult to track down than complete bikes. Anyone with information on the theft is being asked to contact either Shimano Europe or the police in Vallnord, Andorra (+376-838-430). We'll have more information as it becomes available.
