In this video: over a minute of intro, and enough slow-mo to kill a small child.

It must have been something you said...

I am so tired of slo-mo on every shot. I would much rather see someone hauling in real time.

No offense to any of you hating on the slow-mo, but its the filmers vision, not yours. I think that the music and slow mo worked out good with each other. I do agree the intro was long, but again thats the filmer/ editors choice. It takes a solid day to collect enough video to make a 3-5 minute edit, not to mention the additional time for the B-roll. Can you guys appreciate how beautifully this was done? The imagery is amazing is this video. Not every shot was slow mo, there is some complicated things going on with the editing of this video and I can respect it. I would love to have the opportunity to ride this trail and I dont know about all of you, but the closet trail near me like this is a solid day of driving away. Why dont we all stop critiquing others video and show love and support for others in our own sport?

If its the filmers vision I guess everyone else is providing the viewers critique right.... Seems logical as to why there is a comment section and all and we are free to share opinions of what we like/dont like about the video, product, picture, etc.

We appreciate your honest opinions, and we learn from it. It's hard to satisfy everybody. Somebody only wants real-time riding, but other wants to showcase nature and pictures, rather than just handheld ripping. Our vision with this edit was just that.

This video was meant to be a longer edit with several parts in it. When we discovered that we did not have a chance to complete the movie, we made stand-alone edits of the parts in the movie. We did not have a heart to kill the intro as we used 2 days filming it, and sometimes as filmmakers we priorities other things than just the riding.

Have a look at the "behind the scenes":

Very nice edit guys, high quality of filming parts that you put together. This is pretty unique that you can reach theses trails by catching a T-Bane from the city centre…I regret so much I couldn't bring my bike over here.

Great edit guys. Everything just matched really well together imo and gave me this peaceful feeling that I get only during foggy days on the bike or riding my snowboard during snowstorms. Great choice of song, intro was beatifully made and the framing was really good. So thumbs up, enjoyed it. Slow-mo just matched this, eventhough a little more action would have made it even better.

I think the intro is to show the commute from the city Smile I wish we had something like this in our city, although it would require a lot of bus transfers to get to a somewhat decent trail.

*I should have walked away...

The Intro was so awesome, it gave me goosebumps...
(Well i mean not just the intro, the whole video was great!)

Is it really possible to shutlle in the subway though?

I think it was beautifully shot and personally the music works well with the slo mo (which wasn't excessive here). Does anyone know the name of the song?

I'm still scratching my head as to why he was using a DH bike? Those trails looked as smooth as a baby's butt!

Yeah! i thought the exact same thing!

Same here, I was like.. you can ride that on a trail 29er and probably have more fun.

Was he supposed to get on/off a subway at any point in time that was supposed to take him to the top of those amazing trails? Or can I just add some footage of plane flight to the intro of my videos and say I shuttle with planes...
  • 13 0
Somehow Pinkbike called the article that.
The thing is you can shuttle with the subway / train from the bottom of the trails and back up to the top every 15 minutes. And the bike is free of charge.
  • 1 0
That. Is. Awesome. So, how much elevation does said subway gain? They really don't mind dirty, smelly mountain bikers using it as a shuttle?
  • 2 0
It is about a 15 minute subway ride, and it's mostly up hill.

If you click this incredibly long google maps link you can see it on a map!

The trails they are riding are more or less a straight line down from the top station to the bottom station.

I would say that perhaps the average traveler on that specific line is used to having some kind of smelly person next to them. During winter it is normally packed full of people either going to the winter park or going out into the woods for cross country skiing. We are just slightly more dirty and covered in dirt. Big Grin

@flexd Seems like getting off at the Voksenlia stop would be better, it's two contour lines higher Smile

For some reason I got the same feeling that I did when I watched 'if only ever mountian biking video was shot like this' when I watched this.

You can take the train (which starts underground in the city) all the way to the top of the mountain north of the city.

This is the same area that has the famous ski jump park, Holmenkollen.

I was not there to ride, only got to hike, but I saw kids shuttling to the top. Train should work just fine. You wouldn't start in the city, though. You would want to get on close to where the trails end... but I suppose if you really wanted to claim you used the subway to shuttle, well, you could.

I guess I used the rest of my enthusiasm in the last sunny days of September. Cold, foggy and drizzly autumn makes me want to stay at home with an enormous mug of tea. I think everybody should have two houses. One on Northern and the other on Southern hemisphere for a constant summer biking experience.

Great, now I am sitting here with a broken collarbone and broken rib and just want to ride. Great video guys, it's got that "feel" to it

We need more builders to maintain these trails. The bridges are falling apart and there are fallen trees blocking the trail. Don't just show up and make an edit.. Help do some maintenance. There are many sweet trails in this area that you can shuttle by subway. Yet the videos from this area always show the same trail. These people are apparently not locals.

Quality video! With the opening city scenes it looks like a sequel to Life Cycles.

We used to be able to do this in Portland...

They found the trails in forest park and shut them down.

These trails aren't exactly legal either. There are ongoing talks to regulate the area and allow us to build and maintain trails. You often meet people walking up the very same trails you are going down, that is why it is very important to be careful and slow down! Once there is proper regulation and that or other trails in the area are mountain bike trails only we can afford to go faster.

I can ride this trail with my XC hardtail drinking beer and making selfy at the same time XD
