When:

Saturday, March 7 2:00 p.m. NZDT
Friday, March 6 5:00 p.m. PST
Saturday, March 7 2:00 a.m. CET

17:20pm: Kicking it all off with a 61.25 for Owen Marks.

17:24pm 75.75 for Timothe Bringer.

17:26pm: Thomas Genon is back and has a smooth run after injuring himself here last year. Finishes with a cash roll on the McGazza money booter for an 81.5, moving into the lead.

17:28pm: 19-year-old Lucas Huppert's tire just barely holds on but he finishes his run smoothly. 78.5 and he moves into second position.

17:32pm: Anthony Messere gets a 71.25.

17:41pm: Jackub Vencl with an 85! Takes over the lead - from the alternate list to the top spot - that has got to feel good. He wasn't sure if he would just be riding Speed & Style coming to Rotorua or if he would get into Slopestyle as well. A great start for the Czech rider from Prague.

17:45pm: Our second Lukas of the event, Lukas Knopf, with a 73.25... 6 riders to go in run number one of two.

17:48pm: A flawless run up until the last jump for Nicholi Rogatkin. Says he went short off the McGazza Money Booter, causing him to crash on the front flip tailwhip. It could have been a lot worse. Rogatkin says he has the same run planned for the second run, but plans to stomp that final jump.

17:51pm: Eject button on the Cork 720 for Alex Alanko. Uncharacteristic error from the Swede.

17:54pm: A 90.25 for Erik Fedko, moving him into the lead.

18:04pm: An insane run from Emil Johansson finishing with a 360 Windshield Wiper to finish, a trick he learned the trick this winter. Goes into the lead with a 96!! It's been three years since Emil finished a run here in Rotorua so this feels like redemption. Most tricks were triple combos. He now has the target on his back with just Tomas Lemoine left in the gate, and a second run for everyone else.

18:08pm: A great run from last night's Speed & Style winner Tomas Lemoine until he crashes with a hybrid cash roll on the last jump. He will focus on run #2.

18:09pm: After the first run it's:

1. Emil Johansson 96.00
2. Erik Fedko 90.25
3. Jakub Vencl 85.00
4. Thomas Genon 81.50
5. Lucas Huppert 78.50
6. Timothe Bringer 75.75
7. Lukas Knopf 73.25
8. Anthony Messere 71.25

18:27pm: And Alex Alanko starts things off with round 2.

18:29pm: Alanko makes it from top to bottom despite his slam in run 1. Ends with an opposite cork 720.

18:31pm: Great run from Tomas Lemoine. Right back up after his crash on the first run. Fixed mistakes from last run and landed his complete run top to bottom. Lemoine moves up to third place for now with a 88.25.

18:35pm: Dawid Godziek is up next.

18:36pm: A crash from Dawid Godziek. Luckily doesn't fall off the on/off box.

18:40pm: Rogatkin stomps the front flip tail whip on his second run. He'll be moving up in the results.

18:43pm: Rogatkin with a 93! Moves into second place for now.

18:49pm: Anthony Messere has a great run, doesn't land with his feet on the pedals on the last jump but rolls out. Doesn't move up in the rankings from his first run.

19:04pm: Thomas Genon, sitting in 6th place, goes down hard on the final jump. Worked so hard to get back from the shoulder injury, but looks like he may have injured his shoulder again as he touches his shoulder and shakes his head.

19:12pm: Victory laps all around. Final scores:

1. Emil JOHANSSON 96.00
2. Nicholi ROGATKIN 93.00
3. Erik FEDKO 90.25
4. Tomas LEMOINE 88.25
5. Jakub VENCL 85.00

Ok I was just thinking. On a trick like Emil's three windsheild wiper, could the judges give him a ???? I mean they gave Shaun white one once. Just thinking, I mean, Brett couldn't even land a strait windsheild wiper and now Emil goes for a 3 windshield wiper! Seems like on a run with so much progression in it they could just hand it over!

I'm thinking now, what you have to do to get a 100 points run. Shaun get one on Xgames, I think it's impossible in MTB slope now.. Johanson throw almost suicide run there and everything was so perfect and 96 stll.

@adidasss: They leave room for improovements, as unlikely as they are. They said before, that the scores aren't 1:1 representing on how good a run was but that they get used as a tool to rank the guys.

@adidasss: don't want to sound like hater and underestimate his run in any way but not enough backflips I'd say. Everything apart from long jump frontie was a 360 or straight jump. I was so happy when he threw that frontie in because I knew that was the only thing missing. I think if he'd squeezed a backie double whip somewhere in there it would be worth a 100 points. Hands down the f*ckiest run ever nevertheless

Are you sure a 3 windshield wiper is harder than a regular one?
  • 2 0
Why would they give a 100 in the first run? What if Someone beat his run in 2nd runs? I wouldn't say the straight windsheild wiper is easier than the what Emil did, two different tricks.

 WHY IS IT IN RUSSIAN???
  • 5 0
And why is it last year's contest?
  • 2 1
You can select English or Russian...

Best thing I saw was Messere gapping the pad.
  • 10 2
Oh its at midday, should be about 10 beers in by that point

The announcers were talking about calling gapping over a feature a "Timo". I think they were referring to Timo Pritzil absolutely sending it over a step up/drop feature in Whistler back in 2004.
(Timo's massive gap at 3:16)

I cant remember if he broke his ankles or not.

Timo did it a few times at other events too. Back when slopestyle contests had dozens of janky ass lines. Back when guys could compete on dh bikes. early crankworx, Monster park, adidias slopestyle. Those were the days.

Yeah I was actually there standing not far away from that scaffold feature, we knew it was gonna be ugly.... the lip was wrong for high speed kick. I'm pretty sure he broke both ankles that time.

@calebscott: Ya you never knew how people were going to get to the finish gate, but they were going to use every bit of suspension they had!

 Freaking Emil is incredible!!

Cam - that was not even close to a cashroll. A dipped 720 is not a cashroll hahaha
  • 2 0
 Lemoine didn't cashroll first run?

Cam even states that he didn't after the fact so why claim it initially?
  • 1 0
Anthony Messere got robbed on the first run! He should've ended in the top five! Otherwise the scoring was actually quite sensible for once...
  • 2 0
Ok. How about a three windsheild wiper then. Seen that trick lots
  • 3 2
If it rains and it gets muddy can we rename it to slopstyle? Or is that just cyclocross?
  • 2 0
Where can I see the list of riders that will be competing?

Is the feed messed up for anyone else?? I was watching the 2020 edition, and now it's the 2019 one...
