Welcome Back, we've missed you!
Welcome to the first race of the season, the SMITH Enduro! Round #1 of the OSPREY BC Enduro Series (BCES), presented by Smith Optics on Sunday, May 8th, 2016 on Mount Fromme in North Vancouver.

This race is going to be a coming of age tale, our third year running the BC Enduro Series, our adventures are still more intimidating than your buddies new e-bike, and we've added a bunch of short course options for those with limited time and a desire to fulfill their inner-enduro. With that being said, this year is going to be THE ONE, we've been working since last September to take you guys further into the back country, down alpine ridges, deep into local scenes and down that slippery, wiggly brown worm of singletrack spread across Beautiful, British Columbia! So c'mon, Get Some!!!

Fantastic! Can't wait for the May long weekend.... we are stoked in Williams Lake to have the opportunity to host the Osprey BC Endure Series here in the Cariboo.
We are working on some fun events to go along with the race, so hope to see you all in the "Puddle" in two weeks. For additional info on riding in the area check out our brand new site: www.ridethecariboo.ca

The way the course is mapped, and the way it is described are different.

Map says: 1. Oilcan 2. 7th 3. Leppard/Krinkum/Kirkford 4. Espresso 5. Dreamweaver
Text description says: 1. Olican 2. 7th & Espresso 3. Baden Powell 4. Leppard/Krinkum/Kirkford

I am going to guess the map is correct, but could you confirm?
  • 2 1
I ride there quite a bit and the text description seems to make more logistical sense if its supposed to end near the new parking lot. Also i think 7th and expresso together make more sense
  • 1 0
@rvass: yeah, I also ride there a lot. To me, the map makes way more sense - it has a whole extra stage for a start, and it doesn't include racing on the Baden Powell, which would seem like a pretty bold move on a weekend with the number of hikers etc. on the trails.

Ending on Dreamweaver would also put us closer (kind of) to the school, which I think is where the festivities are taking place (not the parking lot). But that's just my opinion.
  • 1 0
@phixx: right on. I was just guessing haha. I didnt read the part about ending at school. Makes sense. I dont really want to race on the bp anyways haha! I like 7th and crinkum and 7th and expresso so either way im happy!
  • 1 0
@rvass: hopefully the crew can confirm either way. Looking forward to a good day out!
  • 1 0
Judging from the conversation I just had at tonight's NSMBA race... It is the map that is correct.
  • 2 0
Sorry about that, our fingers couldn't type as fast as our excitement! The map is correct. Stage 1: Lower Oil Can, Stage 2: 7th, Stage 3, Leopard (starting at high point)/Crinkem/Kirkford, Stage 4: Espresso, Stage 5: Lower Dreamweaver....
  • 1 0
@bcenduroseries: Awesome - thanks for clarifying. Looking forward to it!

 @bcenduroseries: no problem!

Sounds like a great course, really looking forward to it. Sneaking out of work to get in some pre-riding this afternoon. Been a while since I rode Lower Olican!
  • 1 0
Phew, cause yesterday we rode this as per the initial description:
Short Course Option
• MTN HWY to Lower Oil Can
• STAGE: Down Lower Oil Can
• Up New Climb Trail then UP MTN HWY
• STAGE: down 7TH Secret and down Espresso

And it was pretty brutal for a short course, that new "climb" is killer :s happy it's not included now, bummed i rode the wrong course lol
  • 3 1
Injured so I cant ride. But I will be there with beers. Prepare to get foam fingered!

Signed, but now have a cracked hub on my rear wheel..
Any one has a spare 26", 12x142 axle, shimano driver wheel by any chance ?
Or a 27.5 dropout for a banshee rune v2 ? I've been waiting mine for almost a month..

I would probably also accept a slick 27.5x2.1 tire, the 2.25 schwalbe I tried can almost fit..
  • 2 1
Taylor, is that you doing the front flip?
  • 1 0
 It's a Yankee
  • 1 1
Are the listed trails open for the public to ride while the racing takes place? I sort of doubt it, but it's worth asking.
  • 2 0
@rfrench Hey Rhys, they most certainly are, feel free to join in the crew, and don't be afraid to jump to the front if you aren't racing.
  • 1 0
 Stoked!!!
