PRESS RELEASE: Snow Summit Bike Park

The 2019 season at the Snow Summit Bike Park is set to kick off in two weeks (Friday, May 24). It's going to be a big year at Snow Summit, with the expansion of the trail system and the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking on the docket.

Snow Summit is currently working with the Forest Service on the approval process for a new downhill MTB trail intended for intermediate and advanced riders and new hiking trail. The new MTB trail is expected to traverse the current Log Chute hiking trail, which will be moved to a new location (TBD).

The FOX US Open of Mountain Biking is coming to Snow Summit this September. The event, which gives up-and-comers their shot at racing the pros, will move west for the first time in its 16 year existence.

The only showers we had during Finals were of the Champagne variety.

Crafts N Cranks will return to Snow Summit, July 20-21. Part Bike race, part beer festival with live music and a carnival rides mixed in for good measure Crafts N Cranks has become one of the bigger mountain biking events on the West Coast, offering a prize purse to match.

Season Passes are now on sale. Combining season-long access to both Mammoth Mountain and Snow Summit, pricing is as follows:
- Adults: $409 for new pass holders, $349 for renewals
- Kids (5-12): $99

Opening Day is set for May 24. Single Day lift tickets for the opener are now on sale for $20 with advanced purchase.

So ridiculous. The Forest Service must be blind. Do they not see that they approved huge swathes of trees to be cut down for ski runs? Adding a few trails is a deal for them though.
Summit should be an absolutely killer bike park that has one of the longest seasons anywhere. Sadly that's just not the case.

The trailbuilding restraint the forestry service has on summit chokes off what could be a great park. The jumps are fun... but im missing the old gnar of the natural trails that were off mountain before the bike park on summit opened. Summit needs more gnarly tech trails.

so much potential for SS, maybe one day they can get their act together and figure it all out... Too bad that proper trail and jump building/spacing is a rare top secret science only reserved for those with that security clearance. For now I'll spend my time driving to mammoth or Northstar or just hit some much better local stuff that's free (except for the cost of digging)

Snow Summit! Stoked they’re finally opening up a new trail!

"currently working with the Forest Service on the approval process for a new downhill MTB trail" does not equal "opening up a new trail." The approval process with the USFS can take awhile...

Lol....they said this last year too. New trails coming soon.....sure!

Summit has so much potential! Forest service needs to let em open up a few more trails. Park could be so much more fun.

Did Fox change the date of the US Open?
It say Sept 12-15 everywhere else...
  • 2 0
I saw Sept as well, it says August here, which most pros would be at Crankworx and or World Cup/World Champs?

@stikmanglaspell: Sorry guys, Sept. 12-15 is correct. Working on fixing the blog post to reflect.

I wish SS could step up there food game. I get hungry after riding and the food is subpar. SP has much better food

You should try to promote yourself more/sound cooler when you leave comments.

 Skypark is better
  • 9 1
Meh. I can pedal for free on much better trails...
  • 6 1
Skypark is where you go to learn how to ride Snow Summit! Great place though, open year round.
  • 4 1
Meh.....SkyPark is just ok. Nice to have another option but the runs are super short, you have to pedal up, pricey for what it is. Jump line is ridiculous short...Arrow is fun though. Great for your cardio I guess.
  • 2 1
I thought it was for ebikes only?

Skypark is ok, some fun trails, Comet is my favourite. It's a great place for beginners or intermediate people to really work on their skills. They do have a good range of rental bikes and do demos days all the time.

I just find for the price is way to high, I would go way more if it was $25 rather than $55. Snow Summit and Mammoth is $45(without discount which you can always find, which usually end up being $37/day) and they have chairlifts and bigger trails.

 Yes! Can't wait.

 Fingers crossed.
