Snowshoe FreeFall Festival

Snowshoe Mountain, the #1 mountain resort in the Mid-Atlantic region, announced tickets are now on sale for this year’s headlining acts for the 2nd annual FreeFall Festival held September 26-28th, 2014. Michael Franti with Spearhead (Friday) and Slightly Stoopid (Saturday) will both perform live concerts at the Mountaintop Village. Also slated to perform is G. Love and Special Sauce. Additional opening acts will be announced soon.

This year’s FreeFall concerts will be moved to the larger west view lot adjacent to the village. The new venue will provide guests with 180 degree sunset and fall foliage views, guaranteed to deliver dramatic evening backdrops to the festivities.

Along with the concerts, the FreeFall weekend event will bring downhill and cross-country mountain bike races, a mountaintop brew fest celebration with a vast assortment of the nation’s finest craft beers and local BBQ, a Dock Dogs competition, ski movie premieres and a Saturday night fireworks display above the resort’s village. Guests can also participate in the Lifestyle Camp, which includes outdoor adventure activities and sporting events. A Sunday scavenger hunt called FreeforAll will offer season passes and ski trips as prizes. The 2014 FreeFall Festival is open to the public, and will be the perfect weekend to take in the fall colors in West Virginia’s beautiful mountains.

The weekend schedule includes:


4- 6 PM – Free Movie Premiere
6 - 8 PM – Gravity Race Registration/Packet Pick Up
6:30 – 10PM – Gates Open: Michael Franti & Spearhead Live Concert in the Village, with Special Guests.

The popular hip-hop band, Michael Fronti and Spearhead, known for the catchy hit song “Say Hey I Love You” will offer live concert that will blends a unique fusion of reggae, rock, and jazz— Michael Fronti and Spearhead is currently on their SoulShine Music and Yoga Tour.

10AM - 4PM Lifestyle Camp/Gear Swap Sale/Sponsor Village

Ocean Beach, CA based band Slightly Stoopid is led by co-founders and multi-instrumentalists Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty now in their 17th year as a band. Slightly Stoopid is an American band who perform an eclectic fusion of folk, rock, reggae, blues, hip-hop, funk, metal and punk. They’ve just announced their eighth annual outdoor amphitheater package this year entitled “Summer Sessions 2014” featuring So-Cal punk D.I.Y. cohorts NOFX, long time hip-hoppa bluesman and musical co-conspirator G. Love & Special Sauce, hip hop icons Cypress Hill and modern legend and Grammy winning reggae artist Stephen Marley.

Tickets are $40 for the two-day event if purchased prior to September 15, and $60 if purchased after September 15. Two-day ticket purchases prior to September 15 include a free single day adult lift ticket valid from opening day of the winter ski and snowboard season to December 25, 2014. A wide range of lodging options, including first-time ever tent camping on the slopes at Snowshoe, will be available.
