Video: Remy Metailler Rides Squamish's Iconic Treasure Trail

Apr 22, 2020
by Rémy Métailler

Treasure Trail is considered Squamish's most technical trail. It is an amazing trail that flows really well once you connect all the features.

Here is why I just filmed it - Andrew Boyd, the builder of Treasure Trail and Pleasure Trail that I met while riding one day has just lost his house due to a wildfire. He and his wife lost everything and one of his friends set up a GoFundMe page to help with some of the costs. Andrew has put so many hours for the bike community but also for the rock climbing and trials moto community. If you enjoyed his work, and can, feel free to donate.

Disclosure: This video is not a guide on how to ride this trail. It is made to entertain you and hopefully give you a few valuable tips to elevate your riding.

These are the trails I ride in this video:
• Treasure Trail (Built by Andrew Boyd)
• Gouranga
• Gourangover

Remy I like that your trail previews show the fun and you also avoid the gratuitous cursing. I can watch them with my kids and get them stoked without needing to hit mute! The same cannot be said for some other pro-level trail videos on PB. Thanks for keeping both the lines and the language clean!

I mean you're kids are gonna learn to swear eventually... might as well break em into it with some rad bikers!

F#@^%$! Yeah!!!!

@wblhockey08: Knowing the time and place for proper cursing is like being a guy and knowing where and when to just whip it out and take a piss. I don't mind doing either in the right circumstances, but it seems trash to be nonchalant about them. I try to teach my kids the same. Classy people need to know when to keep it classy.

But of course, to each their own.

"I should nose manual down this. And I do." My thoughts too, but I can't lol

Remy: "given the current situation, riding this skinny is too risky. instead I'll just ride off this cliff"

isn't it adorable to hear a former rampage rider confessing that he doesn't feel comfortable with mid-level skinnies? This one is somehow sketchy, though ..

Always enjoy Remy's trail previews. Makes these super techy trails look way too easy!

Love all the technical feedback while you're riding Remy. Really helpful, especially now while there's so much time to stay in and watch videos. Keep em coming and stay healthy!

Remy, do you know by any chance where I could buy same riding skills? Jenson? Smile
  • 29 1
If you spend 10k on Jenson, I heard you get some skills with the package. I could be wrong. I could be right tooSmile

"Drop, drop, and drop again. Nice."

This will be playing in my head when I ride in Squamish next. He makes it sound so easy!

I ride colorado, and moab all the time, but squamish makes me drool with lust!!

haha...I ride Whistler, Squamish all the time, but here I was the other day watching Moab and Sedona videos looking forward to travelling down there again!

Thank you Remy! Not only great to watch but also like the fact that even a guy with your skills pointing out that are some features that are best not to risk.

The intro rock face looks nice, but how is he gonna ride the double drop followed by another drop....dame! Nailed it! But the 2 narrow skinnies connected by another rock face will definitely trip....dame! Nailed it! OK that's smooth, but he probably forget this one tricky feature of the trail that I always....nope. Nail it again! RESPECT!

It’s amazing how different it looks on GoPro to real life. This trail is 100% the knarliest thing I’ve ever seen and tried to ride. Props to rent for making it look so easy.
  • 3 0
Right?! Between Remy’s smoothness and the GoPro effect, he flattened out some pretty around trails...

Man, the trail builders did such an amazing job with this trail. So much tricky stuff to master, but as Remy shows a good rider can link it all together and squeeze some great flow out of it. I'd be chunking my way down it, walking too much of it, and just not really 'getting it'. Thanks for showing us how gnarly trails like this *can* be ridden Remy!

Remember, His taking it easy.. lol. Good one Remy. haha.. badass

Thanks Remy! Amazing skilled riding and great commentary as usual! Thank you for highlighting line choice and avoiding unnecessary risk. This is at an all time high level of importance these days, as everyone should be trying to balance enjoying their ride and avoiding Emergency departments,in this Covid-19 era.

@remymetailler noticed your EDC wasn't in your steer tube, is that because you were rocking the backpack for this video or was there some other reason? Thanks for the cool video and the spotlight on Andrew. Super cool, love watching you ride this stuff.

I do not use the EDC. I have my Camelbak vest on at all time, and I keep a Topeak multi tool on the front pocket. Super easy access, even faster to use. The EDC tool is a great product though.

I know how steep those BC lines really are. Remy made that look absurdly easy.

I love hearing Remy talking about features he's 'not comfortable doing' - he seems almost human!
  • 3 0
Fully support this decision. Madd props to the 'omie

Saying you weren't very good at uphills made my heart sink. I'll just go buy that E- bike now.
