SRAM – UCI World Cup DH Fantasy Contest Winners Announced

May 3, 2017
by Pinkbike Staff
SRAM UCI World Cup Fantasy Contest 2017 Round 1 Lourdes.

We had a record breaking, 2,264 entries for the Lourdes World Cup DH Fantasy Contest over the weekend. We're pleased to announce that @RayEpicon and @o2a6k will each be receiving a new set of SRAM Code brakes based on their answers in the UCI World Cup DH Fantasy Contest.

What was needed to enter?

Readers simply had to pick their top three in finishing order (Pro Men and Pro Women). Leave their 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the comments section of the article, and then the people with the correct answers were entered into a random prize draw.

Race Results

The men's race was turned on its head and Alexandre Fayolle's victory came as a surprise to all the entrants, but RayEpicon did pick him in his top three, and we're giving him the win for that.

o2a6k correctly predicted the top three finishers in the women's race, Rachel Atherton, Tracey Hannah, and Tahnee Seagrave.

Hat's off to SRAM for not pulling the exacto-card. I would have never thought Alexandre would sit on the podium, good for him!

Agreed! Happy to see the prize was handed out to @RayEpicon with the closest answer! Well done mate!

Agreed, good to see when last year they wouldn't hand out prizes unless all names were correct, pretty frustrating when you had five out of six. Was good marketing for companies though, saying that a product from their company was up for grabs when the chances of somebody actually getting the correct order were minimal. Congrats to the winners

 Step 1: create a bot
Step 2: have bot create PB accounts
Step 3: have bot choose different options for all results
Step 4: win a prize prolly not worth the time and effort for the above 3 steps
Step 5: sell for profit?

Because there are 3215544 possible podiums

Pinkbike would probably sense something fishy going on if there were over 3 million comments on the contest...

@jts429: That's a pretty exact figure. Something a bot would know...

 I like your bot idea!

Does anyone see this as a "cheesy marketing campaign" by SRAM? SRAM gets a free article every World Cup by giving away of set of brakes that cost them $50 to make. Then people eat it up like seals begging for sardines at the zoo... SRAM execs laughing with their big cigars, "Yea, the kids will love it and we don't have to pay advertising money... Ba Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha $$$$"

@will-burr: Yeah man. SRAM is just another part of the movement to placate the masses while conditioning us to become super efficient at pedaling. Eventually we'll all be enslaved and used to generate power on stationary bikes.

 @TheStabbyCyclist: Black Mirror right there.
  • 3 0
@will-burr: in fairness, sram also enforces map pricing so they can help to protect brick and motor shops. They tend to be a company that cares about the industry and people and a whole.

@will-burr: Settle down mate, it's just a cool contest that most of us look forward to every WC weekend. Don't overthink it, just enjoy it.
  • 4 1
@will-burr: yeah but shimano brakes are better, meanwhile i am to cheap to swap the OEM guide R's off both my bikes

I heard a way easier way to win than creating bots Is too simply time travel
  • 9 4
creating a bot sounds like a rather ineffective way of getting a set of Code brakes... just saying

@WAKIdesigns: Nah. Who would want to buy the things he likes... Crazy idea...

@will-burr: Don't hate the playa; hate the game

@will-burr: but they would have paid PB big $ for the contest.

To all those complaining that they also got the women's podium right: it's a random draw between ALL those who got it right.

Congrats to @RayEpicon and @o2a6k!

@cristouf: That is correct. And a big thank you to @pinkbikeaudience for posting the winners. I, for one, appreciate the follow-up.
