 Troy Brosnan, proud American.
  • 53 5
He's gonna make America great again.
  • 32 1
 He jumped the wall
  • 2 5
What happened to Rude on stage 2
  • 3 1
@chize: Flatted mid way on stage 2

wait why are they not riding hard tails wouldn't that be better for this kind of thing. and the heavier the bike the faster you go. I put melted led in my seat tube to help with that...

Rude gained huge respect in my book today. My buddy and I watched most of the top 20 guys on stage 1 rail the middle section of afternoon delight. A blown out, taped corner was wreaking havoc, with roughly 1/3 of the worlds best blowing the corner, having to duck around the tree and under tape, then pop back onto the trail before the root-ball left hander. No doubt it was an off that lost everyone a fair bit of time trying to get back on trail. Rude missed it too. Unlike every other rider he jumped off the bike, sprinted back to where he went under the tape and took off, even though he easily could've saved 2-4 seconds by just riding back onto the trail. Stoked he won, and even more impressed by the integrity.
  • 3 0
@NickMT: glad to hear that, +1 for Mr Rude
  • 2 0
@NickMT: "Less rude more Richie "
  • 32 4
We need Richie to switch to XC for a bit so we can have someone to beat Schurter in the Olympics.
  • 15 17
Lol no chance. He's fit... for short shirt sprinty stuff. He wouldn't last for 1:30 against the worlds best xc riders
  • 4 2
@rrsport: yeah but if he set a few years aside I bet he could do it. I'd rather see him smashing the EWS.
  • 31 0
@brandaneisma: I'd love to see him smashing the dh World Cup.

flag owlie (Aug 14, 2016 at 21:17) (Below Threshold)
@rrsport: Actually those XC guys wouldnt stand a chance against him in this discipline. they'd be pushing their bikes and crying about rules
  • 9 1
@owlie: We weren't doing that comparison though were we? However I think you'll find a lot of the top xc guys ride enduro events as well, and have placed reasonably highly
  • 4 3
Its sorted, Peter Sagan will destroy him!
  • 3 1
Kabush in 99th. That gives you a comparison.
  • 3 0
@Motivated: kabush is a has been though. Anton cooper, Marco Fontana and Nino Shurter just to name a few have all had top results in local as well as international/ews events
  • 8 0
@Motivated: Look up one of Nino Schurters edits. Don't be fooled. XC riders can shred hard
  • 1 2
But at XC races they have got drug test unlike the EWS. Does´t mean doping is not possible, but a bit harder.
  • 14 0
Stage 2 won by J Nation by over 22 seconds back to second!!

Joseph NATION 5:32.64
Jesse MELAMED +22.33

Next 20 riders where then with in 20 seconds from Melamed.

That's some impressive riding/lines!?!
  • 1 0
I noticed that and was so stoked! and it also showed Brook Macdonald crushing the field on stage 4 by about 30 seconds. but must have been timing glitches. they are now shown well back in each of those stages...
  • 1 0
@tomlynchwatson: Yeah I was finish timing for stage 4 and can confirm it was a timing error. Top 5 were within a second of each other.
  • 15 1
As with every EWS event, the Pinkbike coverage has been sensational.... Thank you
  • 14 0
And Rude just crushed everyone's dreams - unbelievable ride - well done Josh Carlson
  • 10 2
he only crushed the dreams of the big S. karma is a biatch
  • 2 0
@funkzander: The big S will attempt to buy him soon enough. They like buying champs.
  • 1 0
@chezotron: but imagine the prestige if graves had won on the new enduro
  • 3 0
Yup. I'm guessing their method works well enough for them to keep doing it. The smaller teams like Yeti are just feeder teams for Trek & Specialized.
  • 1 0
 @funkzander: It's feast or famine.
  • 11 0
Come on PB. No body can guess top 3 m&w!
I think there's only been one winner this summer!
How about just #1m&w, that way there would be more chances.
Or how about the closes runner up?
  • 10 0
Yeah the fantasy competition is a bit of joke, almost nobody wins the prizes but companies get a bunch of free advertising. If they make the prize available, it should go to the closest runner up
  • 3 0
I nailed the womens podium but I only got Rude right for the men
  • 17 4
That tire fiasco with poor Graves is getting ridiculous. Someone get that man a propper tire if the big S(hit) cant!!
  • 6 0
The old black marker and maxis trick!!! Have no shame!
  • 6 0
@Jhou: Richie flatted too, on Maxxis...
  • 4 0
@tomlynchwatson: Ritchie doesn t count because he s an alien!
  • 2 0
@tomlynchwatson: Yeah, Maxxis Griffin DH tire. No tire is safe from Rude.
  • 12 0
Good to see Justin Leov back, and a top 10 finish no less!
  • 7 0
Good to see the Enduro regulars showing the DH boys you can't just rock up and smash it.
  • 3 0
Was thinking the exact same thing. In fact I'd always wondered how some of the DH guys would fare. It turns out Enduro is not some wishy-washy middle of the road type of event that any of the very fit DH riders could dominate. Maybe some of them would (minaar comes to mind) but it's hard to see anyone in the world beating Rude.
  • 2 0
@GeeHad: Hasn't Gwin admitted as much? I think he knows his strengths and that he probably doesn't have the pedaling endurance to win in EWS.
  • 4 0
It's difficult to tell. Look at Sam Hill coming in second a few times.
  • 1 0
@Jhou: Fo real! Sam Hill showing that the top dh crew can show up and give them a run for their money. Brosnan impressive too almost breaking the top 20 in the toughest 1 day race of the year without much 'Enduro' experience.
  • 3 0
I don't think that the dh top guys ride 100% in enduro events.
  • 6 0
Men - Master 40+ ... So if I were to race this in a coupla years I'd be in the same class as Lopes? Seems about right.
  • 2 0
 Don't forget Lawill too. #vetpro
  • 6 0
Felicitations Anne-Caroline. For anyone recovering from anything, you've set another example.
  • 5 0
Top work Justin Leov! 10th place on that brutal course, first ride back from Glandular Fever - legend!
  • 4 0
Damn, Isabeau is dominating this so far.

And did anyone guess Jesse Melamed for the top 3 to win the Canyon contest? Big Grin
  • 1 0
I was just excited to have 4 of the 6 in the correct spot. Melamed and casey brown threw me off!
  • 2 0
Just checked, No one had Melamed in 2nd. Only 6 people even had him in top 3 and all had him as 3rd.
  • 2 0
i had him third. He's been racing really well and this was his home course. I thought graves would've done better.
  • 2 0
@dvp8: So I guess Canyon doesn't have to pay out then
  • 2 0
@JacksonTM: ahah ya that was a safe bet on their side.
  • 1 0
I wish I had known/entered. Melamed has had solid results recently and crushed Barelli in a May enduro at Whistler last year before injury (Barelli came 2nd at ews). And was right in the hunt until the last stage issues in 2014. I'm sure I would have still got things wrong but i would have had Melamed and Casey in my 3's for sure!
  • 4 0
Anyone know what happened to Graves?
  • 3 0
I believe he flatted on stage one
  • 30 1
 Damn s-works tires....
  • 3 0
Flatted on Stages 1 and 2
  • 8 2
He shouldve run wtb tough tires
  • 17 0
I guess he will get a nice christmas gift from Maxxis this year..
  • 1 0
 DNF?
  • 6 2
Yeah he went to Specialized. They mailed in a new 2017 Enduro while the media fucking gushed over it.
  • 4 0
Not trying to be a smarta*s, but what about the tires makes them more prone to flats? Soft sidewall?
  • 2 0
@hetfield1: thin rubber so they are light weight.
  • 4 0
I'll never win a fantasy contest.
  • 3 0
Just noticed that Keene hung on in 9th place. Amidst all this drama, I'm just happy the dude got a solid result.
  • 4 3
Wyn pulls ahead of Rude Boy on stage 2 and is in 3rd on S 5 - go Wyn - needs a p$ss test post race I think - looks like a role call of the dead and dying on stage one
  • 2 0
When does the live webcast start? Thought it was supposed to start 23 mins ago?
  • 2 0
NVM - starts on the half hour.
  • 4 0
 Nice one, Casey!
  • 3 0
Sam and Sam 7th and 8th. Nice work boys.
  • 3 2
Really did not like how the live timing was displayed compared to the usual. The video was a neat touch though!
  • 2 0
 Was Rude on a SB 5.5 c or SB 6 c ?
  • 3 0
I believe an SB6c. Cody is on the wagon wheels
  • 4 8
flag gonecoastal (Aug 14, 2016 at 22:30) (Below Threshold)
Rude needs to run wagon wheels for a race so this 650 be-ull shit can end
  • 3 0
yea heaven forbid the guy who wins, wins on a wheel-size that he chooses. He should totally run what the marketing department and PB tells him to run.
  • 2 0
Shout out to Remi Gauvin for killing it!!
  • 2 0
Welp, no one's winning a canyon.
  • 1 0
Awesome event today! Stuck around for the awards ceremony as well. Great times seeing and chatting to some.
  • 1 0
He was running a 2.3 in the rear with Dh casing sidewalks and caught the sharpest rock on the mountain.
  • 1 0
Anyone know what happened to Dan Atherton? Haven't seen him on the roster in a while. Not injured again I hope.
  • 2 0
Lehikoinen with a career best! He still got it!
  • 2 0
 flats on one and two.
  • 1 0
Marco Osborne is 2 hours behind? Sheesh
  • 1 0
They mentioned he had a huge mechanical issue. Didn't even think he would start stage 5.
  • 1 0
They said he pulled out. I wonder what combination of penalties is included in those 2 hours. Swapping in a different frame or fork and missing his start time for stages 2-4? Impressive that he stuck with it.
  • 1 0
@OriginalDonk: Might have been walking down the course depending on what he broke.
  • 2 0
 Daaaamn Richie
  • 1 0
Way to kick some ass Max!
  • 2 0
 Congrats Jesse!
  • 2 0
 Nice job Casey Brown!
  • 1 0
 What happened to Graves?
  • 20 1
 Specialized #tyrefail - again! Grrrrr-ipping drama
  • 25 0
@Murbahman: didn't pinkbike just try to sell us those 27.5+ tyres?
  • 15 1
@idontknowenduro: hahahaha - yeah, like - try these, they're really "special" so different to everything else - feel sorry for the G
  • 4 0
we were let down, but not as much as JG what a FU
  • 8 1
@Murbahman: @idontknowenduro: Specialized was making a really big deal about how they speced the brand new 650b enduros with those ridiculous 2.6 tires.
  • 5 3
 @bridgermurray: #sospecialized = Cringe worthy - Rude Boy, Yeti - MAXXIS! END!
  • 12 1
Just run a blacked out Maxxis and i guess that will solve Graves's Problems.
  • 4 6
That's why you go ride a 29er XD
  • 11 2
Well to be fair, I'm guessing Keen was running the same tires and he placed 8th overall.
  • 5 0
 @charmingbob: I think Keene was on a 29er
  • 3 2
He has a Specialized bike hahaha
  • 2 1
@charmingbob: I guess Keen didn't trashed bike or wheels as hard as Graves. That's why he's the mentor for Richie in the beginning, about the same style and aggresive performance on a bike. Just my 2 cents.
  • 6 0
Would love to know what happened to those tyres. Something tells me that fatter, thinner side walled tyres are a bad idea on an enduro, especially one as rough as this one. In fact, surely full dh casings or Schwalbe Super Gravity would be the ideal rubber? This is not marathon racing after all. I was looking forward to seeing Graves and Rude go head to head for the whole event....feeling robbed.
  • 1 0
 Yeah Casey Brown!
