by Tyler Maine
Each year you can expect to see new things unveiled from the SRAM corporation at the Sea Otter Classic. This year's focus was on the 2X10 and an invite only party on the beach. If you missed that, there are pics inside. The Air Vivid is a hot topic for us, as well as the all new Argyle RCT from RockShox.

Check it all inside,

  • 1 0

  • 1 0
exactly, its sram filling a niche market that origonally was partially filled by people taking apart two forks and making them have a baby. "but daddy how does that work?"

didn't realize the Otter has turned into a full on trade show with hotties. is there any other combo better than bikes & babes? ok, maybe muscle cars & babes just as good.

Peaty's bike is very nice but what's up with the duck tape on the chain stay? I know the syndicate mechanics can be a bit macgyverish but can they afford to make this guy a custom chain stay protecter?
  • 3 0
On the last picture it looks like you can see the middle girls pink panties lmao!!

  • 2 0
nice new argyle hope it still comes in white and daaam, those domains are good value, lighter than my 888s and cheaper

I hope new Maxle is much better than the old one. I hate that feeling: did I broke another part of the thread while screwing in? In general I am after going back to 4x4mm allens + 6mm allen... I don't see how much better it is to have a tool free quick release... if it's for those not tender overtightening ones, well, they will find something else that they will screw up anyways (like forget to lubricate the thread on maxle). You have no technical feel go find a hobby which includes nails and hammers... just don't touch high tech stuff...

And in general threaded end is just unreliable. Cant the make plain finished cone ended axle from one side and cone ended bolt screwing into the axle from the other side? So it just looks like a simetrical dog-bone shape in section after assembly? Put two 0.2mm bushings between cones and dropouts so if they wear out, you can just change them. oh two pieces, oh how much skill to grasp for tenderless ones... oh dear Lord, they would need an allen key! it's too much for one man to carry! two pieces and an allen key! No man can live at that speed!

wait: step one... put the axle through the dropouts and the hub, step two put the coned bolt into the axle and start screwing in with 6mm allen key so it locks axle lateraly and further it starts to push itself against the walls of the drop out... mhm... but where's the tighten the quick release step?! There must be some error in printing! There's instruction in Romanian starting just after step 2! maybe in english part they forgot about it! translate.goog...

You must have the hands and control of an ogre. I've never had a problem with the Maxle, old or new. It's easy, quick, and light.
  • 3 2
 1. I am not an ogre and I have an excellent control on what I am doing with my bike.
2. Look on ebay from time to time on used Lyriks or Totems with small note: thread slightly broken, but it's still fine.
3. Its slightly quicker than 4bolts yes
4. Its not light.
5. it is really easy to rip that thread out as EVERY thread of that kind in that place will fail after time.
6. I do not see any advantage for it over 4x4bolt 888 style but being quick: apart from that it is only disadvantages. And if I get a flat, I dont care, Im already piXXX off, it takes me at least 5 mins to fix it anyways, so 30 seconds won't save me.
7.I own Lyrik myself so Im not a RS trasher

You need to chill. I have never heard this complaint from anyone else. The Maxle is so much better than allen bolts. Are you kidding me. I've seen a lot of threading issues with those tiny bolts on Marzocchi forks. Who wants to have to break out tools, and loosen 5 separate bolts when Rochshox has already invented a far superior system. STOP overtightening your maxle, and relax bro. Going back to a system that requires tools is a step in the wrong direction.
  • 2 0
I am not overtightening my Maxle. I have never overtightened a single bolt in my bike. It is such a long thread that it is impossible to damage it by overtightening, I guess it's quite clear. It gets damaged while starting to screw in, when the first part of the thread in maxle starts to go into the thread in drop out. Lots of bike mechanics will tell you: grease it, or you will break the thread including the guy on Youtube. Just type in maxle. No having a greased thread in offraod condition is a bit uncomfy Smile I am very relaxed BTW Wink And well I am not the only one missing the old system. Cheers!
