Nino gave it his all today nut today it just wasn t enough.

Check out who's taking the start line in the short form XC race this afternoon in the Pyrenees. The biggest missing name here is Mathieu Van Der Poel, who is taking some time off to recover after a long winter of cyclocross, Spring Classics and XC racing.

"...Mathieu Van Der Poel, who is taking some time off to recover..." - The Road, XC and cyclocross community breath a collective sigh of relief. 1st place is up for grabs again, boys.

I have foreseen it... it seems that all sort of athletes in all MTB racing disciplines rode too hard this season. Something tells me it will end as the Season of the GOATs...

@WAKIdesigns: Alot of athletes resting now before they go into a long cycle leading up to the Olympics next year.

MvdP is being managed with precision. He took a break to refresh after his biggest win, before he was running on fumes and his performance started to decline.

No Van Der Poel. Wanted to see a battle between Schurter and VDP. Well at least get to see Courtney and Neff battle it out.

 No Langvad ?

Still not recovered fully from breaking her hand. Just got the cast off the other day.To quote her, "It'll still be a little while before my hand is fully capable of riding and racing my MTB, but we're taking small steps forwards."
