Why isn't Pidcock here? I thought the start list is build according to the UCI rankings, where Pidcock sits in 28. place currently.

That was my exact thought. Trying to dredge any signs of him not racing Sunday but no info

He is on the start list for sunday, but pretty far back on the start line.

@yellowtree: They change the rule just before Albstadt, it's not even that, 2020 race do not count.

Start time shown above looks like they're for the Men's race. Missed the Women's race thinking it was as 12:20 EST. Come on Pinkbike you can do better.

 Ranking was frozen on 3.3.2020

Oh wow. They should have done some hybrid ranking for the start of this season, so that newcomers have a chance too... Something like half the positions would go to people according to the pre 2020 season ranking and half would go to people on the current rankings (skipping people who are already in from the old ranking). If someone was on both those rankings he/she would take the higher points to make the final hybrid rankings. But I guess that way Pidcock could actually race XCC and most probably get a very good starting position for the Sunday race.

@TheJD: They did. The rankings are based off 3.3.2020 and the 2 world cups and world championships. Without those 2 world cups and WC he have zero points and would be at the very back of the field.

What people have to remember is the only reason Pidcock ranked 24th in the world is because everyone did a very few races last year. If racing was normal his partial mountain bike calendar would have him ranked probably even lower than 90s.

Avancini is going to be tough competition still for the short track. I feel like that's really where he shines.
