Yeah, what a race. Put to bed a lot of peoples complaints about enduro. Fresh cut loose rowdy tracks, strictly limited practice time, no shuttling what so ever. Proper beastly race, putting the endurance in Enduro, deffo not DH light. Can't imagine trying to ride those tracks with the amount of pedalling in 2 days that these guys did, monsters the lot of them.
They are going to Aspen on July 30th. If Aspen rentals weren't so crazy expensive I would go and watch. Also if I'm driving that far I want to get my ride on.
I have gone to a few of them and am not a racer...but it's pretty fun to watch. I usually do my own ride and plan it so my chosen trails are close to the tracks so I can quickly step over to the race action, watch the pros come through, cheer for. Few amateurs that are riding their heart out befor I get back on my own rig pumped to ride a bit more....usually manage to get to at least half of the stages that way...just got to remember that when you jump on your own rig to ride within your own limits not Tracey Mosley's
I was there enjoying every minute (although hardly finishing the liaisons) but this is great-top-world-class-coverage, Pinkbike you're spoiling us!! thank youuuu
How tall is Cunynghame? He's a solid head taller than all the guys and one girl barely came past his waist. Also props for an interview with beer in hand and the overall wrap-up coverage was solid!
I really wish they would stop going on about ACC and Moseley not being around for the women's categories. You don't hear them bantering on and on about people like Barel not being there in the men's competition. Who shows up shows up. It's where you stand amongst the competition.
Heck of a video though. This is the only way to truly display enduro as a format. It's impossible to do that live. Cheers!
It's been a long winter waiting for the EWS to get underway again. Really enjoyed this coverage of the race. Nice :-) - and looking forward to the rest of the series. (But RC, please learn to pronounce the French riders' names properly - you've had two decades to learn to say Vouilloz correctly......).
Are you getting the RC of PinkBike to the RC of EWS mixed up? RC of PinkBike has been around for 2 decades and during the Vouilloz era. However the RC of EWS is the same that won DH World Champs as a Junior in 2006, when Vouilloz was just coming out of retirement to start racing DH again. Still, no excuses for mispronouncing the name of a legend.
I don't think EWS live feed would come any time soon, just think about the logistics and its cost, in spite of all our love for this discipline, the EWS organisation is quite small and its budget still marginal compared to let us say XC or DH so the means allocated to media shouldn't be more than a fraction of those of the said UCI disciplines, that being said, the GPS artefacts attached to the top 30 racers' bikes seem to be a good path to follow.
I'm new to mountain biking and this will be my first year following EWS and Wold Cup DH. I've been an avid fan of Supercross and Motocross my entire life and those race are on TV every week, usually live. Where can I watch these enduro and DH races? Or am i just relegated to highlight videos?
EWS is usually highlights due to the logistical difficulty of filming all the stages. DH world cup has good live coverage on redbull tv, there is usually a link from pinkbike on the day. Full race replays too.
Amazing video!! What a way to feel in it!! Love to see this compilation type of a WC DH weekend... Talk after first day practise, after seeding, finals. Amazing video! Congrats racers and organizers!
Richie Rude is 21 and Martin Maes 18. Nico Vouilloz is 40 and got 3rd. A little perspective; if Nico were racing by age group, that puts him in Master's B.

Does anyone know the logic behind the women's races being worth 100 points less than the men's race? Is that a team points thing? Seems odd...
Great edit can't wait for round two. Thanks
Bariloche next right? That place has some pretty rugged terrain!
