Love the fact he's rocking a bottle + cage. Under 2 hour ride, ditch the bag.

And then its starts pissing down with rain, you get a puncture and then a mechanical... Shit, I left all my stuff in my bag! It OK, I'm only an hours walk back home!!

If it starts pissing down with rain, you get wet... Big deal. I'll be home soon enough. Punctures/mechanicals... How many tools do you need bro? A multi tool fits in my pocket. Where do you draw the line? Should I take a chain whip? Bb tool? Headset press? Do I need any of these things when I ride down the pump track? Do I need to take any of these up a 25 min ascent to do a 3 min down? It's nice once and a while not to carry shit ALL the time. Yes I do for long rides. I certainly carry a lot more when bivi biking. But I managed to get through my entire childhood on a bmx without anything.

Personal preference I suppose. I'd rather keep all my stuff in my bag so I know where it is rather than having to remember everything before I go. But if a bottle and a few things in your pocket is good for you, then so be it.

It's simply dressing for the occasion. If I go for an hour spin from my mums house in pill to Leigh woods on a blazing hot day I see no need for much else than water. If I'm going on a 4 day adventure in the highlands where I live now I'll take food, tent, sleeping bag, cooker, tools, spares. If you only ever take what's in your bag right now, it might slow you down if you've only an hour to spare. On the other hand you certainly won't get far on a multi day. If you want to see the most I've ever carried check this out...

But I was only saying how nice it was to see a bottle and cage in a rad video. Peace out!

Give me shout next time you head to Leigh woods and we can meet up. I'll carry your tools in my bag as a peace offering!
