Dexter Robson riding the Straitline Silent Guide on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. The guide is now out. Lightest on the market and has no moving parts. Directed and Filmed by Eric Peterson - Fault Line TV.
I love the simplicity of this product. The bearings in the roller of my e.13 DRS often jam up when ridding in the muck. The problems gotten better since switching to a different grease, but with this product, that would never be a problem.
Different grease in the bearings makes a huge difference. The stock bearing have an inferior grease. I opened up the bearings, and greased them with Finish Line grease (with Teflon) and have had much less problems with them.
Theres nowt wrong with electro tbh, it really puts across the same intense buzz that riding gives. What would you rather have in a bike film? Im pretty sure its out there... Your targeting a tiny portion of the bike media when you bitch about electro.
I just watched the previous 10 VOD's and one of them had an electro soundtrack... some dominating trend your talking about here
But something worth highlighting even more than that is the fact that the music in this video here isn't even electro It's more of a dance/pop song than anything!
Seriously, grow up and embrace the fact that not everyone thinks the same way you do.
Everyone should have the same tastes as me duh! Just about every clip that's shown has the same filming techniques and genre of music. It gets old. Go watch some skate and bmx videos FFS.
'Take it or leave it' is an awesome bmx vid/documentary, also check out 'Resevoir Dogs' which is a bmx documentary short about a north England trip. Trust me man, I watch a lot of stuff. I like 'Coastal Crew' style edits, but I'm not limited to just them by any means
We're rocking the silent guides on all our camp bikes because they work so great. To ride it is to believe. Having spent a good part of my life thinking up new stuff, I always say - "Everyone likes new stuff - as long as it looks like the old stuff." It takes a while to change people's minds from old thinking. Ken
175? all the more reason not to get it. I wouldnt go as far and say this is better than an LG1. If you look around everyone is copying e13's guides, says something about their company.
How is this a copy off E13? Straitline had the sliders first. Straitline is also stronger, & on hard impact wont kill your ISCG tabs, all while being lighter, and retaining the ability to guide a chain properly...
i can see these having a great place on rental and demo bikes, but seriously i dont give a- if its the lightest guide
its too expensive for what it is, it uses a metal bashguard like its still 2002, it has a fair amount of drag, and its seriously not that silent...infact its kinda loud
since this guide has no moving parts i guess that chain is simply tearing those plastic elements, so how on earth can it be more silent than the regular guides?
RE: Original Comment - Its Straightline, of course its not going to be cheap regardless of how good it actually is.
Oh and if you dont like metal bashguards, just use the one you do like off your old system. Pretty simple really.
From a maintainance standpoint however, I'm really liking the look of this - I've had to replace exploded bearings on my E13 pulley twice in the past year now...
The friction on the sliders is actualy very low. Dont know how they found the right material but all the people who talk about drag had no experiance with it before. My old lapirre cg (gamut style with 2 rollers) had more drag than this. Its also very silent. Yes they sliders wear but after a month of riding in the most shitty conditions ever (we have a month long flood here) I still dont see it.
whats with the ..?? Its not lighter with bash, yes it is a marketing bs and its no lighter than lg1+ but it is lighter than the SRS+ and a lot ppl want the full bash(because they like the warranty on their frames )
E13 has kinda set the standard in chain guides, people are just trying to find faults in newer ones because it doesnt look like an e13 and are just scared to try anything different. If it aint broken dont fix it.
Hey man, you can get White, Black, Blue and Red sliders, Green is just the stock color. Check out the "helmet cam" shots of the guide in the video. We got White ones for Dexter's Norco after shooting the main portion of the video.
Here's the post the Straitline made on the video in regards to the same question about Ben Cathro.
" try being me seeing that, I shat my pants and shed a tear not knowing what happened until afterwards.
Ben cased a rock on a step down and needed new cranks and chain ring and decided to bend the outer bash back into place rather than replace it entirely. It worked but was not ideal and it left room for error on his run right where Gracia had his fail from a previous crash.
Nothing is impervious to damage it is foolish and arrogant to assume it is. This is something the biking community needs to remember and what the Moto world simply accepts.
Just Heartbreaking for Ben, that was his moment and he was fresh off of a win at the IXS DH Cup the weekend before. "
Isnt Minnaar on e13? Actualy I think a lot of the stuff simply breaks in Ft. William. The backplate of the silent guide is much much thicker than the new e13 guides (lg1+ srs+) so it will be harder to damage. The bash is also really sturdy. Ive already stopped mine on a tree(!!!) and it is only scratched. Imho its much more durable than e13. Especialy that I know a few people who bent their backplates on them.
But something worth highlighting even more than that is the fact that the music in this video here isn't even electro It's more of a dance/pop song than anything!
Seriously, grow up and embrace the fact that not everyone thinks the same way you do.
