The very first, indoor bike park in Europe will open soon in Strasbourg, France. Just beside the German border, it's an indoor space with pump tracks, skatepark, XC trails & kid's track. This is build for all skill levels, from beginner to expert. The bike park is still under construction, and will be finished for this summer if everything goes well.

 Still not sure why we don't have more of these facilities in europe or especially the UK, we're a more densely populated place than north america so getting the foot traffic shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully this will start a trend! Salute

 cost of land in the UK for a facility large enough, and close enough to population centres, is crazy expensive, then add in business rates...

 @hampsteadbandit: valid point I guess, shame though. Just living in hope for the day the MOD sell on an old aircraft hanger for next to nothing and someone puts 2 and 2 together.

 @hgardner: imagine one of the Cardington sheds...look them up, near chicksands as it happens. 223000Sq ft. Probably a bit pricey tho!

 @alexhyland: every chick sands trip i see them. Bloody huge. I can't imagine the amount of stuff you could put in there.

 Definitely not the first. There's one in Switzerland since a few years: www.indoorbikepark.ch . They are not in the EU though, so maybe it doesn't count?;-)

 @alexhyland: It would be amazing, but they film bloody blockbuster movies in them sometimes! They have to be the biggest single indoor space I have ever seen. Bloody good call though. One of us MTB'ers needs to win the euromillions and get it done!

 @km79 Good, you've still got a home Smile .

The one mentioned in the article looks bigger though, the window in the background looks like it is the size of large railway station. But that doesn't make it the first indeed.

 @ColinD: It's been absolutely pouring for the past two weeks and the rain isn't about to stop. A complex river system has developed on our trails and landings have become huge lakes. So jealous of you Big Grin

 We are working on it dudes, we are called Dirt Factory - Indoor Bike Park, Manchester UK. Still a lot of work to do, but we have raised 500k through crowd funding and are now in the process of securing a premise, more updates to come soon. Keep an eye out, appreciate the support. Thanks.

 There's a similar bikepark in Pfäffikon, Switzerland for around two years. Look here: www.indoorbikepark.ch/en
But we all know that Switzerland is not Europe!
