What if we wanted to join in on the fun with a normal size tired bike? Is that allowed? I know myself and a lot of other guys who would love to get some riding time in but don't have packed trails available around here. Riding on packed snow is fun no matter what tire sizes you're running (even 29ers!!) especially with a winter like this!

I'll shoot one of the event organizers an email if nobody gives us an answer on here soon. I remember riding the chairlift at Shawnee Peak a few years back hearing the screeching sound of wet disc brakes. I looked over to my right to see a dozen or so mountain bikes come flying down one of the trails. This was before I was serious about riding but all I could think to myself was "man that looks fun". Ever since I've gotten serious about riding I have been looking for an event or even just a place to ride like this in the winter and haven't had any luck. Winters in New England are almost painful for those who love to ride. It's great to see them bring back winter riding events like this (and I'm sure it will be a big success) but allowing only fat bikers in and on the trails would be incredibly disappointing to a lot of people who don't have a fat tired bike. That's like marking some sweet trails "Specialized bicycle owners only". What about the rest of us? Yes it might be slightly harder to ride in the snow with a normal mountain bike but on packed snow it is very much possible and quite the good time. I'm hoping this is not the case but if so shame on them! Us normal tired guys want to ride too! Events like this would only be losing money by excluding us non fat guys and I'm sure there are lots of riders willing to pay to hit the groomed trails in the winter no matter what they ride. This just might have been the longest comment I've ever typed out on PB but I sure hope it does some good to any event organizer out there who thinks its okay to only let the fat guys have fun in the winter.
