PRESS RELEASE: Sweet Skills

Based out of Pemberton, BC, Sweet Skills is a crew of fiercely dedicated and passionate female coaches who are constantly striving to share their mountain bike joy to other riders.

Founder Sylvie Allen and partner Emily Slaco are leading the charge in bringing ladies into the backcountry and creating awesome adventures all over BC and the Yukon. Their goal and passion is to open up more opportunities for ladies to access trails that aren’t just in their own backyard. Giving them confidence through skills coaching in a supportive and welcoming environment for all levels.

Since 2008, Sweet Skills has offered locals ladies clinics designed to target skills that will help participants tackle their local trails with style while fostering confidence to be a bit more adventurous. Although they’re forever loving the local trails, their true passion lies in the adventures to be found further in the backcountry. Sweet Skills started offering ladies only backcountry clinics in the South Chilcotin Mountains with Tyax Adventures in 2013 and it’s just exploded from there!

This year they’ve stepped up their roster to include 2 International ladies only camps with Big Mountain Bike Adventures: Croatia and Peru. Sorry ladies…Croatia is already sold out! Backcountry cabins, float plane drops, endless single track mixed with a deluxe base lodge, daily lake dips, some yoga, and a whole lotta good food and laughs makes for a stellar experience!

Sol Mountain Lodge is a gem deep in the Monashee Mountains discovered a few years ago by Sweet Skills. They immediately fell in love and planted new roots with the Sol Mountain family. The terrain offers an incredible learning experience for all levels of riders along manicured singletrack in the alpine. Peaceful lodge, gourmet food, yoga, and alpine beauty in every direction makes this camp a must do. Early bird pricing ends Jan 31st.

Retallack Lodge and its allure of ‘cat skiing’ for biking drew Sweet Skills to their headquarters 2 years ago and they instantly made plans to bring back a crew of ladies ready to shred! Offering the next level of riding for those that want to keep flowing downhill and relaxing on the uphill. Learning to jump and rail corners on alpine trails with the Sweet Skills crew… and no crowds! Cozy lodge with deluxe rooms and food, games, stories, and a few drinks at the bar. Retallack is a good time not to be missed if you love to shred!

bigquotesThe main highlight of the trip was the coaches, they were amazing! The trip in itself is mind-blowing and the coaches delivered an outstanding experience by being knowledgeable, amazing riders, funny and patient with great coaching skills. It said on the website that this would be the highlight of the summer and it turns out to be true! Josi, Whistler, BC
