Manon Carpenter is fast becoming one of the top female DH riders in the UK, having had a stellar 2009 Youth season in which she very often posted faster runs than most of the women’s senior categories, including the Elite Women!

Heads up, now I've mentioned this name before and today won't be the last. Manon comes from the Carpenter Stables, headed up by Jason Carpenter of Dragon Downhill fame. Those Dragon races were legendary, not just for the amazingly tough courses but for the locals who set fire to the tracks, shot their air rifles at us as well as throwing rocks mid race run. I won't even mention moving the burned out cars on the uplift so the trucks could get past..

Teenage DH prodigy, Manon Carpenter will ride a Lapierre DH 920 for the 2010 season, supplied by Hotlines Europe Ltd on a supported rider program. Hotlines will also be supplying Manon with Nuke Proof wheels and X-Tools maintenance products.

Today came the official announcement out of France that Team Lapierre DH Powered By Saab Salomon has engaged World Cup legend David Vazquez to be their lead rider for their brand new team. The 28 year old Vazquez, who has won many titles in his career, will be joined by one of the youngest riders on the 2008 international circuit, Danny Hart of the UK, in his first year as a junior racer. Also named on the team is endurance downhiller Greg Doucende of France. The team will be operated by the newly formed Pure Agency in France.

Not to many riders know of LaPierre this side of the Atlantic. The only reason I was aware of them was through their high end road bike line, me being a closet roadie. It looks as though they plan to make a big push in '07 with their new mountain bike line though. In fact they have enlisted Nico Vouilloz (google that name, groms) to help develop their DH230 downhill bike.
