The parent company of GT, Cannondale, and Mongoose is poised to go private again, aiming to "pursue new opportunities faster, free from constant market scrutiny."
Mongoose entered into the mountain bike world in 1985 with the Mongoose All-Terrain Bike, or “ATB” and now thanks to a time machine, we've taken Chris Akrigg back in time to shred one and bring 3 back to the future to give away to you.
The 4th & final race of the series went down in Paarl this past weekend on the fresh new track, Late Harvest. Perfect Weather, a tar road for the shuttles & a few new additions to the track. All the right ingredients for a great weekend of racing.
Chris takes his new Mongoose Fireball to the states, taking in the Sea Otter Classic and a trip up the coast finishing up with some home footage in the local quarry and some ghetto woods.
Mongoose’s Khyber and Teocali bikes have been on our radars for a while now and at this past weekend’s Sea Otter Classic, they had a few new Prototype bikes on hand. Darren stopped by with the newest Teocali prototype for 2011 and we got a chance to talk to him on film about the new design.
Last year we had a chance to ride Mongoose's flagship DH bike, the Boot'r, and came away praising it as one of the best off the shelf big bikes that we've ever spent time on. While it always seems to be the DH bikes that get all the attention, Mongoose has an entire lineup of bikes that use the same great FreeDrive suspension. While in 'Vegas we took some time to check out two of their shorter travel bikes, the Pinn'r and the Nugget. The HammerSchmidt equipped Pinn'r is Mongoose's answer to the free ride question, while the fun looking Nugget is a 4" travel mischief machine that is ready for any trouble you want to get in.
Mongoose Bikes sent through some photos of their 2010 lineup. All the new Mongoose bikes not only look good but have a well thought out component groups that makes them cost effective, and weight conscious.

The introduction of the EC-X in 2006 spurred the idea for the new Mongoose Nugget model. The EC-X was the bike that led Eric Carter to numerous UCI podium finishes. With increasing demands in the freeride market, more specifically for an all purpose, slopestyle and play bike, the word of a production slopestyle bike was the talk of the office at Mongoose HQ in Madison, Wisconsin.
At 17 years of age Steve Romaniuk's parents and school let him walk away half way through his grade 12 year to board a bus full of other riders and hit the road. Little did they know that the bus was full of Kokanee and that it would be the catalyst to his career as one of our sports most recognizable riders today. Steve finished his grade 12, but its his riding that gets all the passing grades. From print ads to huge movie parts, Romo as his friends know him is just getting going and with the 2007 season underway he is now on a whole new ride. Enter Mongoose Bicycles, look out the Goose is Loose!
The boys over at www.rip.tv were able to get Steve Romaniuk on the phone as he was running out the door to go on an MX road trip and were able to get some insight on what he's riding in 2007.
