Tahnee Seagrave Injured After Crash in Qualifying

Aug 4, 2023
by Christie Fitzpatrick
With Rachel possibly out a lot of eyes will be on Tahnee for a British win here.

Tahnee Seagrave has injured her arm and back after crashing during a qualifying run at the Fort William Downhill World Championships. In her crash, she tore down the sponsor Lidl's signage in epic style, joking after that she prefers supermarket competitor Aldi instead. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for her in time for tomorrow!

bigquotesStoked with P2 in qualifying and the pace is there to fight for the rainbows but unsure if I’ll be able to start tomorrow… arm and back are pretty beaten up.Tahnee Seagrave

 Oof, arm coming down on top of the sign couldn't have felt nice. Heal up Tahnee!

 Man, a night of sleep is only gonna make that worse. Probably way worse.

I love watching Tahnee race, but tomorrow isn’t her day.

 Is it just me or does this season of DH have more injuries than before? Coincidently the same season the tracks are changed up, made faster for the viewers pleasure supposedly…….

 If you watch the video, it was a weird crash right at the bottom that hasn't changed in a decade. Is she at the fence and a weird way, sucks for her but it's nothing about going too fast or changing out the course
  • 2 0
 I mean of all the places to crash at the bill that’s the weirdest, one of the only features I’m not terrified to hit
  • 8 2
 Is it just me or do posts like this come up every year? Seriously, every year.....

Its not the course designs, its not some giant conspiracy by the course designers working with the media behind the scenes. DH is inherently a dangerous sport. Shocking, I know.

 @scott-townes: yeah they do. Because people are idiots... Knew I’d get downvoted for my comment but that’s what you have to deal with when you speak the truth.

 @markcorrigan: no it's not what happens when you "sPeAk ThE tRuTh", it's what happens when you are critical of someone else's opinion in an incredibly rude way that also offers absolutely zero value to the conversation.
  • 4 4
 @wncgravity: ..."offers absolutely zero value to the conversation" What conversation? People thinking there's a giant conspiracy to make the courses faster and more unsafe for more views? LOL what a joke.

 Oh man, that arm impact looked GNARLY. Super unlucky moment.
  • 2 0
 In slo mo, the shot that blasts her hand off the grip on the top of the metal post is wicked.
  • 2 0
 More like super lucky she didn't break her arm! Looked well nasty in the slow mo.
  • 3 0
 Damn. I feel for her. It's been a rough journey back! Always rooting for Tahnee.

 Ouch - that's not going to be ready for tomorrow. Her arm caught the fencing and yanked her off the bike - hefty impact for arm and shoulder. Hope she's OK

 Average rider here..... always seemed to me that finish line at Fort Bill comes up surprisingly quick especially when they're at race speeds

 Probably practice. I think she placed 2nd in the qualifiers yesterday/today.

 @Lanebobane: Qualis, 2nd despite the crash.

 @bikes-arent-real: gold!

 @Malky79: If that is the case, sliding in for a P2 on your ass is top notch!
  • 1 0
 @ShawMac: I think she'd have preferred to cross the line on her bike rather than smash herself off the barriers. It looked like a sore one. It wouldn't surprise me if she can't race tomorrow.

 @Malky79:

So this was after the finish line?
  • 2 0
 @hllclmbr: I think she crossed the line during the incident

 Geez. Her arm got CHUCKED backward. I was expecting it to slide on the top rail of the signs.
