All the action from Team CRC Mavic at the last two rounds of the 2018 Enduro World Series, where Sam Hill was crowned the champion for the second year in a row, and Elliott Heap won the under-21 category! Incredible.
Watching Nigel page drip a tear made me smile. He clearly has a big heart! And Seeing Sam winning another season in a row is just the best mountain biking news of the year for me!
hey look it is a photo of the 40+ series champs! One of the first shown on Pinkbike this season. Kind of a shame considering these folks bust their asses to get to all these international races and do it with minimal sponsorship. Plus at this point they have spent a small fortune in the mtb industry with personal and family involvement. But hey, just keep acting they don't exist. We fellow racers know they exist and are the backbone that the industry is built on...end rant sorry for that...almost the same thing goes down in the motorcycle world...almost as the Vets never get to stand on the same podium as the Pros in their world.
@Sycip69er: The entire article was created by CRC. Or did you miss that because you were staring at your letter box waiting for your participation medal to arrive?
Not sure about PB (didn't read that back in the days) but I recall Nigel Page got quite some exposure in Dirt magazine back when he won the masters world championships. Maybe also of course because it was one of the first male Brit World Champs (Ruaridh probably was the first). But yeah, he did get the exposure he deserved as a masters champ.
Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see, and hear. Since the inital publication of "The charged electromagnetic spectrum", humans have learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear...is less than one millionth of reality.
Maybe it turns out that everyone traded their flats for clips too soon... c’mon I mean it makes sense riding blind having the extra assurance of being able to carelessly dab as needed, though I fear flats will die off after hills retirement and so will their benefits to rough riding tracks like on the ews
For those that have been riding clipless for years (myself included), clipping in and out and "carelessly dabbing" is absolutely second nature. The pedal debate is purely personal preference, any human is fastest on what they are most comfortable using.
@Dudeclimbsrocks: I have know doubt that unclipping and dabbing is second nature for you, it’s just not physically possible that it is faster and as care free a dab as someone comfortable on flats. Plus you still have have to re clip in same spot whereas Sam can lay the power down after a dab even if his foot isn’t perfectly posisitoned
@mkotowski1: have you ridden clipless dh peddles? I can dab just as easily as my friends on flats and find that I do it much more frequently than them. Not only that, on clipless dh peddles it's not necessary to immediately clip back in
@mkotowski1: With clipless pedals my foot goes straight out the side of the pedal and down to dab. With flat pedals I can't just slide my foot sideways like because of the pedal pins so I have to lift a bit first. The difference is so marginal it doesn't matter, but if anything I would say that clipless feels *slightly* faster to dab
@fartymarty: exactly, I like how people are saying you can dab faster on clips, I thought that was one accepted advantage of flats but o wait I remember clipless is better at everything and Sam Hill is legend and only human on earth who could win on flats
Or to paraphrase IFHT: Pick absolutely any topic in the universe and argue about it. Jeezus, just go ride on whatever pedals you prefer. I like to use a flat on the left and clipless on the ride, then occasionally switch, to keep my mind limber.
@mkotowski1: I didn't say I get hung up, but was describing how the movement is *slightly* different because with good flat shoes the pins have enough grip to prevent completely lateral movement. You naturally lift or roll your foot a tiny bit to "unclip" from the pins. Clipless isn't much different except that you roll your foot out ankle first
The difference in movement and speed to dab can be so minimal that it's not worth worrying about. The issue with clipless is that you can only get to that point with enough practice over months or years to develop technique and muscle memory, and find the right clipless pedal setup for you. I tried for a long time with Mallets and couldn't get it down good enough but switched to Shimano and developed good technique really quickly. And I know people who were the exact opposite.
I'm not a clipless or flats fanboy. They're both great.
@showmethemountains: I know I’m beating a dead horse with this topic for sure and I’m def a flat fanboy, I agree both are great I just feel a lot of people don’t give flats the chance they deserve!
Sure why don't they do that, and then we'll just give everyone a participation medal as well?

But thanks for proving my point that people only care about the Elites. The Juniors and the Vets are an afterthought.
I'm not particularly au fait in this subject but I think your a bit late to the party pal haha
