Commencal/Vallnord

This is the kind of Deja Vu we’re all stoked to live again! After winning the 2018 edition, Amaury Pierron accomplished what we all dreamt about: he won Fort William for the second time in a row!

Our Junior Thibaut Daprela won again in his category and Remi Thirion managed to finish 30th despite a big mistake!

SRAM Young Guns

Fort Bill 2k19 is in the books and it could be better for us. Anna Newkirk wins her first World Cup we super stoked and looking forward to the next round in Leogang see you there.

MS Mondraker

Another world cup is in the books and we left Fort William with some solid results in our bags. With Brook MacDonald and Laurie Greenland, we had 2 riders in the top 15 and Thibault Laly made his first world cup point in 2019.

We will remember Fort William as a wet and wild one! Follow our week in the Scottish Highlands for the second round of the UCI Downhill World cup where Tracey Hannah gave a good show and had a great battle to finish 2nd. Yeeoow!

Propain Factory Racing

The team is back in Fort William! Learning curves for both our young riders Luke and Henry, just not pushing enough in qualies. That left the Rudy and Joe to battle it out in finals on Sunday!

A difficult weekend for the team ...

Gamux Racing

We have mixed feelings after the finals as we were not able to perform as well as we can. But all in all a solid weekend! We leave here very excited for Leogang, as it is Andi's home race and we know that we can be fast.

Anyone notice team vids taking a dive over the last 1-2 seasons? Hardly any teams put them out anymore, and it seems like the ones every one liked have ceased, Gwin's is more personal rather than a team vid, the syndicate team vids have been pretty meh, and i don't think specialized even makes them anymore?

I hear YT's videos are still pretty banger.

Agreed. Everyone's half ass vlogging it now. I'm missing the production quality series like This is Peaty and The Athertons too.

@chriskneeland: Hell yeah i missed "this is peaty" too!But without rat you know it's not gonna be the same atmosphere.

@chriskneeland: This is Peaty was the kind of thing I would sit refreshing the page waiting for...
Not much of that anymore

@chriskneeland: The antics of Peaty and Ratboy were the best.

@chriskneeland: @SteelCityMedia were there, I wonder how long we will have to wait to see what JB as done?

Yes, most of the team videos start to suck. Just look at the syndacate now and 4 years ago...

This is because marketing people behind the brand can not understand the difference between something good and something lousy. "We can make the same video for a fraction of the cost".
Their goal is to "generate content" and save money.

They dont even understand that a good quality video will boost your brand (again look at SC with Peaty videos and how many "costumers" they got from that.)

Most sport companies nowdays are run by people with business and marketing degrees. They are clueless of what is all about. They are not riders. All they can see is numbers. They are running a lot of companies to the ground. The bubble is about to explode in the next couple of years.

i think it's one of those "don't hate the player, hate the game..." --- anyone with a decent camera phone and some editing software can stitch together 5 minutes of random footage but everything else doesn't matter anymore...

... there's no interest in telling a story, or deliver a point across... and maybe the team owners are ok with this because maybe there's no money to be made on youtube videos...

not quite sure if you guys do this but i find myself skipping through the videos because they all pretty much seem to follow the same recipe :

( shaky camera settings, rubbish microphone sound, +5db on music between talking takes )

- some annoying rocky/trap/funky tune sets the mood for a) drone shot, b) van setup, c) trackwalk
- people say stuff like "weather is [insert weather conditions here]" and "we are stoked to be here"
- mechanics do some mechanics, they all go for a trackwalk
- some random shots of people doing funny things
- queue the annoying music, practice day
- people say stuff like "today is race day, we are stoked"
- queue more music, a couple race shots
- people say stuff like "race was [insert race commentary], we are [stoked or not stoked] and we'll see you [insert next lockation ]"
- queue more annoying music, drone shot

Low quality porn is still porn. So the answer is to add a bit of low quality porn. Ratings are sure to rise.

 @Boardlife69: hmmm dunno man, let me know how much YouTube you'd watch if sound is rubbish and image quality has more artifacts than the riders have mud;

As someone who has recently had the task of trying to book someone to film a 6 day journey, i would say cost has a lot to do with it.

@hoolydooly: very true - there's a lot of time and effort and patience involved and a lot of people just can't be bothered - most people around me couldn't be arsed to come film with me, even if I'm offering pizza and drinks or petrol money; all this "editing" always starts strong until they realize how much is involved and then it quickly becomes a couldnt-be-arsed

Fox's 'Dialled' is the best team video series just now.
  • 1 0
@chriskneeland: oh, and Lapierre with Bruni and Vergier. When Bruni got to Specialized they just ditched him from vids and focused on Finn. Why??

What bugs me also is that more and more teams this year are using mostly the RB race footage content in their vids. In the previous years you could find tons of otherwise unseen training and race footage in the team vids, different spots, different angles, usually showing places that RB doesn't bother to include in the live feed! Now - sorta stuck with RB? I mean I can watch the race replay if I want to, but this additional footage back in the days was priceless.

Why is the FOX 'Dialed' series not featured on Pinbike? Best series this year by far!

 Dull!

Can we get the old Propain team back? Not enough shenanigans in the new vids .
  • 1 0
The Cube mechanic and Phil seem like they could make a banging show
  • 4 3
Dam you guys are getting free content quit complaining if you don't like the vids don't watch em...
  • 4 2
Just because it's free, doesn't mean it can't be criticized
  • 2 0
I don't now, just lamenting the fact that used to look forward to 3-4 teams every year to see the weekly/race time updates. And now I desperately search and can't even find 1-2 that are worth watching.

Is this SRAM's typo?: "Anna Newkirk wins his first World Cup" @edspratt
  • 1 0
I was about to say the same...

I love how she said hello in Swiss Dialect Smile
