 Fuck these overpriced handguards. I want to get a diy tutorial from bernard kerr how to make some out of an old car floor mat!
  • 22 1
 I'll do that for you!
Step 1: Find an old car floor mat
Step 2: Cut it roughly to a handguardish shape
Step 3: Zipties.

 Cut a milk jug in half. Life hack
  • 5 2
 Just don’t use them, brain science
  • 13 4
 @ThrillPhil46: think I’ve got a better idea
Step 1: don’t
Step 2: mock those that do
Step 3: tell your e-mtb riding friends bikes with engines might need hand guards

 @Molesdigmyjumps: even better!

Addition to step 3: hand guards that were previously used on a 90s touring motorbike

 @ThrillPhil46: yes! Now we are talking!

 @Molesdigmyjumps: you have friends that ride ebikes? That is very inclusive of you.

 @onemind123: phrased as ‘your’ friends not ‘my’ friends Wink

 Overpriced? Last time I checked, the AVS guards Sam Hill runs retail for $89.00 and weighs twice as much.

 Just zip tie an old tire to your fingers. (Can be done with a tube too)

 Came here for the hand guard comments. Not disappointed

 Finally, another handguard option.

 Handguards are so painfully ugly you might just as well do the Bernard kerr route.

 That Daysaver Multitool is made by PB Swiss, meaning it will be extremely high quality, but expect 'TBD' pricing to mean 'Truly Big Dollar...
  • 1 0
 Yeah - you can get a Lezyne or Park one with just the basics for a tenner. Only ten grams more is possibly smaller and probably similar leverage.
This is a nice design but it’s over engineering at its Swiss finest at a price to match.

 @Molesdigmyjumps: true, although the material quality and precision is a lot better with PB Swiss, with more durable metal with lower chances of rounding a bolt. Whether that matters on an 'occasional use' tool such as this is a question everyone has to answer for themselves.

 Pretty pointless unless you are following an MX bike at speed that's spraying you with roost
  • 14 0
 overgrown trails with lots of mesquite and other pricklies at hand height will change your tune.
  • 1 0
 Exactly, what I see mtb guys running now are what are used to protect against roost and not tree/brush bashing.

 $45 mtb handguards? I may as well buy the mx ones for half that.
  • 1 0
 It's odd to me that valve stems are news-worthy.
  • 10 0
 Not just any valve stem. Peaty valve stems in CHRIS KING colors. The ladies will be throwing their riding shorts at anyone rocking these.
  • 2 0
 @onemind123: Great one.
