PRESS RELEASE: Trans-Cascadia's Ten for Trails

Each $10 donation increases your chance of winning a Santa Cruz Megatower equipped with Shimano XTR. Donate here.

All proceeds from the raffle will benefit our continued trail advocacy efforts. Our main goals are to share the incredibly unique trail systems of the Pacific Northwest Cascade mountain range with the world and give back to the local communities through trail work, project funding, and support of the local economy.

bigquotesTen for Trails is an important part of the fundraising for Trans-Cascadia's advocacy efforts. This campaign invites our community around the world to donate money to keep us working on opening new backcountry trails and maintaining and improving trails across our Cascadia region. Our race revenue is focused mainly on operations and logistics before and after the race itself and opening trails that we race on. Funds raised from Ten for Trails allow us to open trails that may not be a part of the race but need attention and are important to the local communities.Race Producer Alex Gardner

Despite having to cancel the event in 2020 due to the pandemic, we have still been hard at work in the backcountry, reclaiming and maintaining trails while actively advocating for their preservation and access.

"Ten for Trails is an important part of the fundraising for Trans-Cascadia's advocacy efforts," explains Race Producer Alex Gardner. "This campaign invites our community around the world to donate money to keep us working on opening new backcountry trails and maintaining and improving trails across our Cascadia region. Our race revenue is focused mainly on operations and logistics before and after the race itself and opening trails that we race on. Funds raised from Ten for Trails allow us to open trails that may not be a part of the race but need attention and are important to the local communities."

In addition to funding our backcountry trail work, Ten for Trails proceeds purchase tools to outfit more volunteers. "We have a knack for throwing ridiculous amounts of resources at a trail. Arming lots of people with power brushers, trimmers, saws, rakes, and shovels, we can open what sometimes is an indistinguishable piece of the trail. When finished, it has been bucked and brushed beautiful ribbon of singletrack," continues Alex. "Sometimes multiple miles a day are opened during a work party, and everyone who is working on the trails can take great pride in seeing tangible progress."

We have also sponsored and proudly partnered in creating the Oregon Mountain Biking Coalition (www.ormtbcoalition.org). This organization focuses on developing, enhancing and protecting mountain bike experiences in the State of Oregon. This organization allows Oregon's mountain bike advocacy groups to communicate regularly, share ideas, and help each other out. This organization is critical in helping us continue to preserve and protect the backcountry mountain bike experience.

In our five years, Trans-Cascadia has volunteered over 16,000 hours of labor and invested approximately $20,000 a season in tools and transport to clear 500 miles of backcountry singletrack. Over 100 miles of those trails had been entirely obscured by nature.

The Trans-Cascadia Race will be taking place September 22 - 27, 2021. You can find information about volunteering with our work parties, our advocacy work, and how to make your donation to enter the Ten for Trails raffle on our website.

Could you throw some of those "ridiculous resources" at fixing Hardesty, Lawler and Eula? I see you shuttling people on them regularly.

Awesome cause, amazing experience, great people, spectacular bike!
But... I can’t help but worry those seat rails are going to bend with that tiny clamp! Gives me the willies just looking at it.

Sweet! If I were 2-4" shorter I'd be all about it.

Why limit the people that will donate by only offering a medium frame…

I'll swap the new bits onto my XL Slash if I win LOL

That was my first thought too, but since my current ride sports 142/100 hubs and a 51mm offset fork, this would give me a pile of good parts and a frame to sell to build a new bike. And, it is a good cause.
