It’s been a long and lazy start to the spring season in Kamloops. The typical ‘hit the ground running’ sensation we’ve been familiar with in years past has been swapped with a much mellower preload into things. And to match that relaxed intro to the year, along came the River Beaver.
It might seem like the River Beaver Classic was a long time coming. But to the laid back locals and the out of town travellers who came to take part in the event, the inception of a multi-disciplinary festival at the Kamloops Bike Ranch was right on time. The River Beaver Classic was a wonderful way to say thanks to our community, to celebrate everything that riding in Kamloops has grown to be, and to get damn stoked for the blossoming of a brilliant season.
Dalton Anderson, from 100 Miles House with Love. The weekend kicked off with a Friday Night jump jam.
The winds were high. The stoke was clearly higher. The cool and Steezy Caleb Holonko.Griffin Paulson putting down a precision 3 Whip for best trick of the night.Big moves, and big heart. Sup Dawg? You ready for a lil' Slalom?!To do well in the dual, you've gotta' be ready to die for it. Racing was tight. Photo-finish tight in a lot of cases.Once the Slalom was done, Devin Knopf said a few words in memory of the berms that were blasted. Red Collar Brewing hooked up the taps and the evening began flowing toward to the Pump Track Challenge.
Koach was sweating.Riders lined up and prepared for a full pull under the watchful eye of The Koach on the River Beaver Pump Track Challenge.Jordan Masse is the foot out, flat out king of the party bike scene. If you don't know...Local stokers like Brett Powermate were on their pump and grind until the light ran out. And then we all crawled into bed early to rest up for the Sunday Downhill Race. When he isn't yelling into a microphone or beer can, Devin Knopf rides his bike faster than you do.Lucy Schick, your Queen of the Dam at the 2017 River Beaver Classic....and Dalton Anderson, the King of the Dam at the 2017 River Beaver Classic. All stoked up and sliding into the finish.Cheryl Beattie and Henry Pejril - the behind the scenes ninjas who make it all happen.
