The Field of Dreams - a haven for MTB, BMX and scooters (sorry!) alike, has popped up just outside of Chesterfield, on Mickley Lane in Stretton. Built by BikeTrack.org, it features both a pumptrack and tarmaced scooter track, with multiple line options to keep the tracks exciting and interesting.
We brought along Abbie Taylor, a womens BMX superstar, and MTB'ers Dave Camus & Jake Monk to shred the track in a battle of BMX vs MTB and boys vs girl. The variety of styles in which the track was ridden by the different disciplines showed through, with creative lines and ways of riding the features.
Trains were the order of the day with riders jumping in front and behind of others on the berms and hip jumps available on the track. The smooth tarmac berms played into the cornering skills of the MTBer's and the long straights of rollers favoured the BMX's.
Meanwhile on the scooter track, Sam Grayson, Marcus Knowles & Alex Parry were doing their thing, utilising the track's smooth berms and tarmaced pumps to their full potential. As well as being a great resource for advanced scooter riders, the track caters well for the younger kids who don't ride bikes (yet).
The facility is fantastic, and shows a great deal of ingenuity from Biketrack in the track design. The track was buzzing with the local kids who all seemed to be enjoying themselves. We will certainly be visiting again soon!

just "push bikes",no matter how obsessed some of us become about our bike riding, and the bikes....
Wish I had one when I was kid
Except from the f*cking south east, do we not exist or something? cant be dealing with this :'(
The closest BMX / pump track is Herne bay which is quite close, but even closer to the coast and is constantly being buffeted by coastal!
Forever digging my own spots...
And I wish every where could have a top little pump track too.
These tracks have been constantly popping up all over the country and that's a great thing. And, with these kids we have future riders and very possibly future world champs.
After all aren't we (the UK) the best in the bike business?
Best of luck mate

It was his choice, he wasn't a club rider I never saw him again on the track.
We have posted up signs saying wear a lid and ride at your own risk. It's up to them and not us if they do or not.
We all fall off, I have broken 14 bones in my 29 years of riding BMXs and MTB. No one is to blame but ourselves.
We learn by making mistakes.
I believe that it doesn't matter if it's a scooter, BMX, downhill bike or a fridge you should be able to ride it and, most importantly, have fun on it. Isn't that the reason anyone takes up a sport or a pastime? Be it for fun or for medals. We do it for fun, mainly.
