PRESS RELEASE: Squamish EnduroSquamish, BC is home to some of the world's best enduro race trails and The Squamish Enduro presented by OneUp Components is the ultimate showcase for them.
The 2018 race promises to be a crusher. The full 5 stage course will approach 40km in length with a lung-busting 2000m of climbing and white-knuckle descending throughout the day. The event is a 2019 EWS Qualifier and will definitely draw some big name riders to compare your times with. Two-time winner Jesse Melamed is sure to face some stiff competition from teammate Remi Gauvin and fast locals Chris Johnston and Dylan Wolsky.
The event goes off Saturday June 9th, which in Squamish that means primo trail conditions on a course that will circumnavigate both the Alice Lake and Diamondhead trail networks. The event is selling out fast, so register soon to avoid missing out.
Spruce Race Timing returns for 2018 with their seamless, no tap required race timing system. The Squamish based timing company has refined their system to now feature live results as riders complete each stage.
All new for 2018 is a short course option. The short course follows the same trajectory as the full course, but will be under 30km in length with roughly 1200m of climbing and descending spread over 3 fun stages. Designed for the intermediate/advanced rider, the short course features a mix of blue square and easier black diamond trails. The addition of the short course gives riders who are not quite ready for the distance and difficulty of the full course the opportunity to shred with their amigos and alongside some of the world's best enduro athletes.
Squamish based mountain bike components manufacturer OneUp Components is now on board as title sponsor for the next 3 years.
| We're stoked to support this world class event on our home trails. For 2018 the event takes it up a gear with a course that will test even the strongest riders. You don't want to miss this one!—Sam Richards, OneUp Components |
The event isn’t over when you cross the finish line. Enjoy the post race caesar bar, delicious appies and live music followed by a full dinner and after party with DJ Praiz which is all included with your race entry. Race stages are Rupert, Roller Coaster and Hybrid/Lowdown. I would definitely be comfortable racing on those. Last year's race stages don't look bad, but I would be destroyed from that much climbing in between I think. Would be my first enduro as well!
