I visited Eastnor last August and told myself next time I was staying in the area to take my bike, spotted a few trail lines diving off the footpath in a few places.

The bottom photo saddens me though, not for nostalgia over the classic bikes, nor for the questionable 90's haircuts or the Ford Escort with inevitable gaffa tape on the bumper. I'm annoyed that people might think acceptable to leave a site in such a sh*t-hole state

Agreed, hopefully we have come a long way since then both in ethics and ditching Escorts

It doesnt look like they've left yet...

Besides, they all probably got murdered.

@ROOTminus1 , was my first thought too, dunno whats worse - the scroats in the photo not giving a f**k or the person that thought it was ok to use this image as a representation of the festivals heyday

Are you kidding? Thats nothing compared to the likes of Glastonbury and thats full of hipster vegans.
Quit whinging and stop being pathetic

All that aside those guys have clearly not left yet, so get of their case assuming they didn't clear up.

OMG.... pretty sure these bad dudes caused global warming and many species to go extinct !

@asmustard : It's the kind of attitude of these bad dudes that has lead to Trump as President and Brexit. In fact, I hold them directly responsible.

 @Chute: it's a fair conclusion.
I would not be surprised if this was a pleasant scene of some young fellows enjoying a social camping trip in the countryside , only to be manipulated by the Russians to encourage people's voting habits.

@pbuser2299: @T1mb0: Call me jaded, but I've been to enough campsites and festivals to know most groups who let their area get as trashed as that don't bother to clean up.

In the end it's all about the riding; I don't want littering wankers putting the backs up the locals and making rides in the area liable to be trapped.

The Malverns is not all about the riding. Its a festival with a shit load of riding.
Plus you can guarantee that the organisers will be fully committed to a clean up operation when its finished, so yes you are jaded.

Eastnor has hosted many events (not just for us bikers) over the years and they are also fully aware of the responsibilities that brings.

Please for your own sake stop wasting you time worrying about things that are not in your control and try to enjoy the experience.

Or if you really are bothered perhaps you could volunteer for the weekend and give a little back to the community. That would be a positive way to ease your concerns

@ROOTminus1: Bin bag in the bottom right of the pic.I was there for a few years until it all got stabby, the area was left pretty tidy really and while it got wild on a night, people tidied up after themselves, it was a well run event.

This looks amazing, it's just a shame that I'm so far away from it. Hopefully it's still going in a few years, when the little one is old enough to ride a bike, then I can drag the whole family down for the weekend.

I'll be taking our 18 month old... He'll be ripping round on his balance bike!
  • 2 1
@bigtim: well mines negative 2 months, so maybe a little bit early for me.
  • 5 0
@bigtim: The Spawn Cycles kids zone will be lit and we have coaches on hand for both balance bikes and pedal bikes. All free of charge!

Can't wait for this. I last went in 1991...

I raced the 1st ever quad eliminator there back in the 90s. The Malvern Classic represented all that was great about mountain biking. So glad to so it back its been too long!
