The South Okanagan, lakeside goodness

The MEGA VOLT is back! Year three is scheduled for June 2-4, 2023, based out of the town of Naramata in the South Okanagan. The Three Blind Mice and surrounding trail networks provide the perfect combination of flow and tech on both the ups and downs. Expansive views of the local vineyards and sparkling clear lakes that surround the host community consistently deliver an incredible sensory experience.

Three Blind Mice - an incredible trail network

Get amped, get charged-up and let’s plug into what is quickly becoming ground zero for the eMTB community. The MEGA VOLT, powered by the BC Bike Race, brings together like-minded eMTB people to ride wicked fun trails, have a mind-blowing good time and figure out just what these eMTBs can do.

Three days of riding, talking, and sharing ideas, from dealers, to engineers, to pros, and everyone in between. This is how pioneers stay on the cutting edge, and further the industry leading conversation, one weekend at a time.

A weekend Get-Away, Retreat Style.

bigquotesYou know what it reminded me of, the first mountain bike races in the late 80’s; low-key, grassroots, lots of fun. No one cares who’s first or who’s last. Tons of fun, and just a group of like-minded people gathering and riding bikes. - Elladee Brown

This years location is in the South Okanagan, hosted at the Naramata Center. The Mega Volt festival is positioned to take full advantage of the Center’s stunning beauty, exceptional offerings, and retreat-style vibe.

Following on the presentations and panel discussions of 2022, this year’s Festival will endeavor to grow the off-bike activities while continuing to focus on all aspects of eMTB .

bigquotesThe MEGA VOLT, it’s the first event of it’s kind. It’s an eMTB Event, it’s a race, it’s a ride, basically, we’re out here having fun with friends. There’s a little bit of competition here and there, but it’s not your average race. - Jesse Melamed

Hopefully they clean their shit up off the trails unlike last year, when BC Bike Race left a ton of flagging tape all over Crawford. I'm surprised they're being invited back, honestly.

 Hey Steve

Yes, honestly,,,, we had a few issues last year with leftover tape, we'll totally take the beat-downs for that one - our team had a communication hiccup and while it did take way, way too long, we did get it sorted, apologies!!

We do try to minimize all impacts on local communities - we try to be positive in all aspects, cause for sure no one wants to listen to a Covid Karen,,,eh??!!

@BCBR: Appreciate the reply and that you copped to it. Thanks!

I don’t ride an e-bike so how does it work when comparing the respective ‘performance’ of each bike? Different battery capacities/ power settings etc.? If I’m half as fit as another racer, but my bike has 2x the performance does that even it out? An honest inquiry - I don’t know much about e-bike races at all but am genuinely interested to know how fairness is ensured.

@f*ckingsteve That's a totally valid call out. Maybe that's why the BC Bike Race doesn't always follow the same course

Stuie321 As mentioned above, we'll totally take the rap for dropping the ball on clean up - but we got it done!! Just an FYI on following the same route - it''s a bit more like the Tour de France, or your local Wednesday ride, BCBR makes some changes to keep things exciting, you know 'variety is the spice of life'. We all get bored of riding the same stuff, so why not be adventurous and move things around.

I think it’s on the expensive side.
