Pond Beaver 2021

We had a great time at the second edition of Pond Beaver, but we're hoping that it won't be too much longer until we can be back scouring trade show halls. In the meantime, here's a recap of all the cool new stuff that we were able to cover from the comfort and safety of our homes during our third virtual trade show.

If you missed any stories, a recap of all our Pond Beaver 2021 coverage is below.

Really hope they don't call it super deluxe anymore, it sounds like an off-brand product with 3 superlatives just chained together. Super Deluxe Ultimate, seriously, did they think this sounds cool?

I just bought a pair after snapping a lever on an 8100 XT setup 6 months ago. Turns out the Shimano replacement levers are made of unobtainum and I didn't want to buy a whole new master cylinder for $75 to just get a $25 part. So I did the reasonable thing and spent $100 on a boutique part...

These levers are REALLY well made. The whole thing is machined and looks/feels like high quality stuff. The secret feature they have is that they can be moved backwards so they don't just snap off if you wreck (imagine pulling the blade away from the bars till it is perpendicular to the bars). Installation was straight forward, lining up the return spring is a little difficult, buy by no means hard. Overall, im very happy, and I'm hoping these will prevent another snapped lever in the future.

Oh, and they are orange which matches the bike. Pretty sure that mens I can shred much harder now.

@86cucv: those look pretty sweet! How does the lever shape feel compared to original shimano XT levers?
  • 2 0
My friend loves them. He says I need them on my bike. They are a little flatter than the XT levers and don't hook as much.
  • 2 0
@JDFF: The shape is very similar, maybe a little less of a hook on the ends with the Fly ones. I do wish they had the dimples that the XT ones come with, but that is a minor gripe and can be easily fixed with some skateboard tape.
