Maybe I'm just a garage whore, but I can't get enough of the workshop photos

Ever see the Japanese magazine 'Garage Life'?
Wish there was a mountain bike version of it.

That was so rad, I enjoyed every second of it! Keep being an awesome ambassador for the sport Jill

Jill Sprintner! She's so awesome! Super friendly and humble. Crazy to me that the best female downhill rider in the country can't get the support to race World Cup.
  • 1 0
@RRMonster: she did race world cup before for Norco. i thought she chose to step away from it.
  • 1 3
She was the reason Women DH had the same winner every seasons.
  • 2 0
Seriously, if we had more people like her in the sport, it would be bigger than these crazy sports that [most] people religiously follow. I also found it extremely satisfying to watch how similar the two of them ride together. Exact lines, body position, speed and flow. Amazing!
  • 2 0
@jojotherider1977: Yeah I could be wrong but I think her reasoning for stepping away was lack of support and a team. Maybe she could join the Norco team if she really wanted to? I'm honestly not sure but i do know she raced Leogang in 2015 and did it all on her own.

Surprised they didn't mention her brother Paul who had one of the main parts in Building the underground, still considered one of, if not the best trails bmx videos ever..

Alright Pinkbike, how dumb am I? I just turned down a job in Bellingham. Flipside is that I live in Asheville. In my defense, I have a better career here to help support my 5mo old girl.
  • 19 0
Props to you for that decision. Not dumb at all to care for your daughter.
  • 8 0
Despite how great it is, nobody is getting rich here. Your decision would have been dumb if you were living in a van with your dog, but family's gotta come first. But come visit! The bham mtb community is friendly to outsiders!
  • 2 0
Ditto above, Bellingham is awesome but not tons of career opportunities there. Buy some property there while it's still affordable and vacation, then retire there when kids are grown.
  • 7 0
Good move. Everyone should stay away from Bellingham.
  • 4 0
Nothing to see here. Move along
  • 1 0
I just got a job offer up there....and took the shit out of it. Biggest regret ever...

 edit edit

@rockhammer: property is stupid expensive these days, unfortunately. Our median home price is about to be 400k and the inability to develope new water wells is only driving it all up.

By far my favorite "This is Home". Two of my favorite riders. Keep killing it Jill. Washington for life!
  • 5 0
So good! Really liked the Richie version, but this is by far my favorite as well.
  • 2 0
For me as well - does a great job of capturing the love of life and bikes. Sick riding to boot! And Heartless Bastards!
  • 18 0
"She's only fast because she gets to ride with Bryn," said no one.
  • 2 0
Yes, but she did make the remark early on in the video that she would always try to race against the best boys she could find.
  • 2 0
I believe it's called "pulling a Claudio" around here Smile
  • 17 0
Cool video, really good edit..made it flow easily

The most amazing couple in mountain biking?
That was awesome... The photos... The story... The video...
Thanks for sharing!
  • 12 0
Jill I got news for ya.... You're there! "Tag along little sister" has arrived in a big way. You're such a great ambassador for the sport and such an inspiration to our little girls to get out there and ride. Again thanks for being so cool to my little girl at the US Open. You're a class act all the way.

I totally rode through the shoot where they were getting the footage at 3:55-4:05 or so--thinking "who the hell are these clowns with their drone clogging up SST?" until I caught a glimpse of the Red Bull helmet and realized just what was going on Smile

The light was KILLER that day!

New Bham arrival, I see Jill everywhere. One night she's talking to my kid at the BMX track, the next she calls him to the front of the Freehub Mag autograph line by name @ the pump track opening. My scrawny 11yo asks how she knows him, and she laughs that "they're bike buddies!" She lives the community attitude here, and we're big fans of how she shows up. ...And she wrings it out, as is well advertised!

superb vid. How amazing is that dual slalom track! And is that a photo of Steve Smith on the whiteboard in the garage?
  • 2 0
good eye, couldn't be anyone else
  • 12 0
I've only ridden it once but I'm fairly certain that was the dual slalom at Duthie Hill down in Issaquah.
  • 6 0
@tbmaddux: Yes it is... Deuces Wild if I am not mistaken. Such a fun trail to rip! It is probably the most dialed of all the trails there.
  • 2 0
@bkchef2000: Definitely Deuces Wild. Its definitely the most dialed. I think its the only one that doesn't get destroyed during the summer. very little braking is required so no reason to drag a wheel through a corner. Except for those two hair pin turns near the end. Those catch a lot of people off guard.
  • 4 0
B-town representing! These two and videos like these continue to make me so proud of this sport and our scene here in a Washington. Rad riders, chill people.

Where's the cone drills guys?!
  • 3 0
One question I ask myself every time I see girls riding is the riding position. Jill, Rachel and the EWS ladies all have that low and back riding position. No the high and loose we see so obviously in Minaar and others. Why?
Because they are shorter?
Anything anatomical?
Please don't see this as a critic, I am just curious to understand.
  • 6 0
I could only imagine her competitors watching this vid, and thinking "great she now has a pump track across the street"
  • 3 0
Awesome video! Big fan of hers and stoked to see that she and Bryn ("Bryll") have stuck with their plan from several years back to make their own gig happen.

4:05 ... oh that's how Deuces Wild is supposed to be ridden.

That rainy forest looks pretty good right now - 55+ days no rain here...
  • 6 0
Agree with Jill, Bryn is my favorit rider to watch too. :-) Superb vid!
  • 4 0
Such a good video, Jill is so smooth! Anyone notice the unicycle, RC car and various toys in the garage. Love seeing a workshop that you can tell is actually used.
  • 2 0
Awesome video! I love that every time I walk in my 8 year old daughter's room I see a poster that Jill autographed for her at Crankworx last year, and my son has one that Bryn signed on his wall. It was a little embarrassing when my kids told her I read MTB magazines while I'm pooping though.
  • 4 0
Well, this just confirms it. Not only does she ride WAAAYYY better than me, she throws the football better too. Love this feature!
  • 3 0
Great video and photos!! she is chisel, the exercise on the balance board throwing the ball against the wall was impressive. Good luck jill ! I just want to go ride my bike now
  • 6 1
So cool...love her style, its all about the bmx roots????
  • 1 0
 You know it
  • 1 0
So a foot stool is required for a Shimano Brake bleed .. I've been doing it wrong this whole time! Jill, I enjoyed chatting with you at the bike wash at Nationals. I told my daughter what you said about dual slalom and she said she'll be there next year.
  • 2 0
Love this so much, and what makes it more special is having her best friend/husband supporting and both of them sharing that passion-- it elevates your dirt lifestyle experience x100
  • 3 0
I run into Juill Kitner on the trails more often than any other pro. It's awesome that she's always out there instead of on a flight to the next competition.
  • 3 0
We need more women like Jill in this world. She friggin rocks. I want to see Jill and Rach race someday. That'd be sick. Keep up the amazing work!
  • 4 0
Love the doodles. keep drawing awesome.
  • 1 0
Left-handed too. There's some loose anecdotal link between lefties and creativity in design.
  • 2 0
Great story, photos and of course video!! So much respect for you Jill. Good luck at Crankworx, I won't be there this year, but hopefully catch up soon.
  • 3 0
Everything about that was rad! Nice job Jill, and Bryn, and Harrison, and Paris, and Freehub....
  • 3 0
Wow that was awesome! So pumped to have just moved to Bham! Such a rad town.
  • 2 0
 Welcome!
  • 3 0
Loved it! How much fun is life when you can travel and ride with your partner!
  • 3 0
Awesome vid Jill, wicked riding, straight to the pool room.
  • 3 0
Jill has so much Steez on the bike
  • 3 0
Wow, just wow. Heart that little Stevie Smith photo in the garage
  • 3 0
They flow really well together, great stuff to watch!
  • 3 0
What an absolutely & utterly wonderful video!
  • 2 0
awesome video, the photos are incredible

This was excellent! Jill is such an inspiration and a true ambassador of our sport
  • 1 0
I'm glad I know someone knows where home is!! Nice vid Jill. Miss the Bham.
  • 2 0
@vatosteve That looks a lot like your pump track man .
  • 3 0
That it is. I've been fortunate to make friends with Jill and she's enjoyed having my place to practice.
  • 2 0
 that loam gives me shivers
  • 2 0
Such a smooth rider. The way she pumps that bike through berms is unreal!
  • 2 0
 Awesome!

 Wow, very good video
  • 1 0
A life well lived... Rad! And, that really made me want to go for a ride.
  • 1 0
Yeah Jill! So sick! Keep on riding...
  • 1 0
Somebody hook her up with an adjustable workstand, pronto!
  • 1 0
I enjoyed watching that a lot.
  • 1 0
I can't wait to move back next year...
  • 1 0
These two are ripping. Both are so smooth.
  • 1 0
 2:43 clamped dropper... JILL NOOOO!!!!
#savethedropper
  • 1 0
Awesome vid. What a smooth, stylish rider. We need more Jill shredits!
  • 1 0
 Awesome video.
  • 1 0
 Jealous. This mean war.
  • 1 1
Do you think she can get to podium level in DH?
  • 9 0
Well, she is the Downhill National Champion, so there is that ...
  • 1 0
 She has before
  • 1 0
 blessed
  • 1 0
 Damn. That was sick.
  • 2 5
 Why doesn't she race wc?
  • 4 0
 She has in the past.
  • 6 5
yup, and while she has mad bike skills, she's not a stellar dh racer - or at least not on the WC level. a few seasons on the WC several years ago and she had a few podiums but mostly 8ths and 10ths... everytime she is profiled, someone asks this question.
  • 4 0
This suggestion comes up pretty frequently, probably because she wins a lot of races that aren't on the World Cup tour, like Sea Otter and Crankworx. She's clearly focusing on Crankworx these days which seems to play to her all-around strengths coming originally from BMX. Anyway, about the World Cup racing idea...

Jill Kintner did race the UCI WC DH circuit a few years ago. She got a 3rd in 2014. Her website says she has 5 UCI WC DH podiums and that seems to match what I found here: www.hookit.com/members/jillkintner

She raced BMX for years back in the 1990s and was a peer of ACC in 4x when she moved to riding MTB.
  • 7 1
@tbmaddux: She has a Bronze medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well for BMX, didnt just race for a few years.
  • 3 0
@Maxxis: Of course! I neglected to mention that. Will add it to the post the next time it comes up (seems to come up a couple times a month)...
