That's it, we have the parade lap on saturday and the whip train on sunday but today is what counts.

I think I got a ton of fantasy points from timed training.

5 weeks ago Bulldog broke his collarbone... 4th in Timed Training. Legend.
  • 71 0
Losinj still hasn't recovered from the impact but he is already riding !
  • 5 0
Seriously. How? It takes 4 to 6 weeks for a fracture to heal not to mention getting mobility back, no? Whats the secret?
  • 16 0
 @yhurt: Beast mode.
  • 1 0
@yhurt: Maybe he got it pinned together?
  • 7 0
@mammal: Well, he definitely must have pinned it.
  • 5 0
When I broke my collar bone, riding soon after wasn’t that difficult. It was just the bunny hop/lifting up the front end you could feal it. I must admit I was riding at a snails pace. Not full speed on a fantastic WC track. Hats off to him.

@yhurt: Most pros get plates put in almost right away then You can be back up and riding in a couple weeks. plate basically acts as a collar bone while yours heals. you also don't loose much mobility that way since your shoulder doesn't need to stay still for months. normally a real break would be 6-8 weeks just to heal then weeks of rehab....
  • 3 0
@Jim-laden: It was measured on the Richter scale
  • 1 0
They also can get laser treatment on it , 2/3 wks it’ll be as good as !
  • 1 0
@mammal: It will depend on where the break occurred to a certain extent. Regardless, it still has to heal. I am 3 weeks post op on getting my clavicle plated and will have to start therapy in 3 weeks... They may be utilizing methods to accelerate healing that us mere mortals do not have access to however...

Keeping fresh. Then exiting the hut like a bullet at 3.15 pm on Sunday and not slowing down until he gets a green light.
  • 2 0
@BenPea: Not a game. Not a game. Not a GAME. We talkin about practice (3x more)

It's Marine Cabirou - not Marine Caribou.
No new species of Caribou today - especially aquatic ones. :-P

I heard Thirion was on a banger but caught air and went interstellar after the first split. Reappeared a day and a half later but only felt like seconds for him. Happened again just before the finish. Now missing but presumed to be shredding somewhere. If he does not appear before race day we are supposed to watch for rocks to randomly displace from the course as a signal that he is okay.

You have explain the theory of relativity in a way that I can finally understand.

I guess Gwin decided to go to Starbucks instead?
  • 29 0
wasn't he just in Temecula with Rob Warner?
  • 24 0
@SeanC1: Exactly. He probably had to stop by the construction site to check on the progress of that toilet with a view. Priorities man, got to have the priorities. He'll be back in time for qualies.
  • 8 0
I don't think Gwin has ever participated in timed training...EVER.
  • 5 1
@Patsplit: I think he does but he has his own pace . Stops here and there to check for routes, corners etc; probably he finds the opportunity in timed-training to check the track instead of self-evaluation.
  • 19 0
@fla3h: have you seen the view up there? He probably stopped for a field dump.
  • 2 0
@SeanC1: filmed on wedesday, edited yesterday, uploaded today. Or so I’ve heard.
  • 1 0
He usually stops for a latte part way through timed training.
  • 1 0
@Bunzl: Not for nothing, but if I ever make over there, that is the first thing I am gonna do.
  • 11 0
 And still no track preview....
  • 25 1
No track walk by Wyn either. This year's "extras" to the WC aren't running as well as they did last year. For me that sh*t's half the fun of WC downhill.
  • 5 0
Well according Claudio's Instagram he had to have holes drilled in his head from his Croatia crash so i don't think we'll be seeing anything from him for a while. I believe Olly Wilkins filmed a course preview with Gee yesterday.
  • 2 0
@Lotusoperandi: Did you even check out the photos from track walk? Theres a photo of Wyn interviewing Dean. On IG, I think Wyn was looking for someone to film and possibly edit his videos. Maybe the person he chose is not so fast at cranking out the vids.

The track preview is also happening. Olly followed Gee down the track, and Olly crashed.
  • 9 0
Ben Cathro has done quite a good unofficial one hasn't he?
  • 3 0
According to Vital they had Ollie Wilkins following Gee down the track as a replacement for Claudio. Ollie was on a trail bike and crashed quite hard but finished the run.
  • 2 0
Redbull should substitute Claudio with Ben Cathro...
  • 1 0
@Patsplit: Yeah I saw that. What I'm saying is that they haven't been as timely as last year. Even Wyn's post-race vid from Croatia took a while (there were comments about it on his instagram). My guess is that now that WynTV is sponsored by UCI he probably has to submit the vids to the Ministry of Propaganda for approval ahead of time. Wink

@headshot: they really do need more experienced riders doing these course previews.. it was only a matter of time unfortunately before claudio went down hard, i know he was a wc racer years ago but literally the only time of the year he rides a dh bike is for these course previews. All the other time is spent building trails and pump tracks even he said it. Imagine never riding and only doing 6 runs a year on the hardest dh tracks in the world i just dont think its safe for him and just get the wc riders to do it.

Wyn tv track walk just posted!

Who is this Gee Atherton? Not heard of him before - seemed to have had a storming run.

In all seriousness, it's about time he got back in the thick of it.
  • 8 0
F#@K Brook MacDonald is hard AF. So awesome to see him not miss a round!
  • 6 0
MacDonald, lying in a pile of his own shattered bones a few weeks ago, now back in the chase like some freakin MTB terminator! Tear it one son.
  • 5 1
Could please we have fantasy league points for timed training, qualifying and the main race? I might actually scrape onto the score sheet that way.
  • 3 1
 I concur.
  • 6 0
 Where's Loic Bruni?
  • 8 0
He’s in the back fighting Gwin. They’re both missing.
  • 3 2
I don't think he can participate in timed training because of his overall ranking right now.
  • 1 1
 And Mick Hannah?
  • 1 1
bruni and hannah are both not in the top 60
  • 4 1
TT might not mean anything but that top 5 is a very beautiful top 5. Can't wait to see how this plays out!
  • 3 1
I don't care if it 's not a race - that's an excellent top 5 - and it's great to see the Gee man back up there!
  • 1 0
I realize its timed training but the 27.5 bikes look to be in the top spots. funny with all the teams pushing hard to get 29s for this race.
  • 2 1
I can't imagine how exhausting this track is at race pace. Nearly 5 minutes of rough, bone jarring rocks and huge jumps!
  • 1 0
He’s done a quick interview on vital, hit his head hard by the sounds of it . Bad news for team intense
  • 1 0
Why does the date on the results say FRI 20 APR 2018??

  • 2 0
 He's saving his energy....
  • 4 0
Because it will rain tomorrow. Why training hard on conditions that don t represent the race.

Anyone know what happened to Dean Lucas?
  • 1 0
apparently stretchered out. Haven't heard any word on why, I assume it's an injury of sorts.
  • 1 0
Who got injured and taken down on the lift on a stretcher?
  • 1 0
I think it was dean Lucas. Really hope he heals up for Sunday. Intense factory is having bad luck this year. Really hope they get better soon!
  • 1 0
 It was Fransisco Pardal
  • 1 0
@TrailZone: I'm so confused, looking at his insta he's posted pretty much the exact same message as dean saying about accept crashes are part of the sport but when it's out of your control....I'm lost!
  • 1 0
Yeah Gee, right up there again! Hope to see him do well again this season.
