Topeak Is More Than Tools - Interbike 2016

Topeak
Mountain bike trekking is enjoying a resurgence. Topeak's beautifully made bags and touring essentials can be used for hardtails or dual-suspension bikes, and include the Bikamper - a compact, one-person tent that incorporates your bike as a support member.

Topeak has stepped it up in the past two seasons. The Asian manufacturer already had a strong reputation for its range of value priced tools and accessories, but lately, they have upgraded their entire lineup and it screams with quality finishes and engineered improvements - and new, very relevant products are popping up almost every month. I am presently reviewing a selection, but until then, here's a taste of the new Topeak:

topeak
Sturdy and discreet. If you need to share your living space with your bike, or your other toys are filling up your garage...
Topeak
...Hang it vertically on the Swing-Up DX bike holder and it will swing out of the way, conserving valuable floor space.

Topeak
Two ways to add your essential survival items to a water bottle cage. The Ninja Co2 cage and its companion cage adapter hold a pair of canisters and an inflation device.

topeak
Omni Ridecase will keep your smartphone Strava ready on your handlebar or stem.
Topeak helmet light
We are planning a full review this fall. It also mounts to the handlebar.

Still got my Alien multitool going strong from 20 years ago (shit, that hurt to write that...)

@zer0c00l44: I like my Hexus too. I really liked my Alien II as well till i lost it Frown

Don't ride in the rain or your bike multi-tool might rust.

@bishopsmike: Me too! Best tool ever.
  • + 2
 @SithBike: or sweat, at all.

I've got 2 of these tools rusted out in my parts bin at home.

I practically sleep with my bike that bike holder could do wonders for me.

For sure! Too bad it's not on their website yet

LOL, search for "swing up DX" = zero results found. Search for "swing up" OK here you go... Smile

Come on now, lets not pretend thats because of a lack of space Wink

Feedback sports makes one as well. Only thing is it's a pretty tight fit with the stock hook, but they make a longer one you can order.

@stiingya: The Swing Up DX is a new 2017 product that is not available for sale yet. The Swing Up is a 2016 product. The difference is that DX version comes with angle lock device that allow you to lock down in 15 degree increments.

Finally! A way to hang my CO2 Catridges on the wall! This will save so much space in my tiny apartment.

Those swinging bike hooks are cool. I use one from Feedback Sports. I like them because I can put a bunch of bikes in a smaller space, & then use the swinging action to move other bikes out of the way to pull the one I want to ride.

This Topeak one looks a little nicer, especially for big tires, which is something the feedback one struggles with, even with the optional longer hook.

Yeah, great service too. Pump gauge broke- no questions asked and they mailed me off another for free, got it n two days.

Love the 18+ Minitool from these guys!

Topeak's stuff is cool and with a good price tag on it.

Topeak Alien III = EXPENSIVE and GARBAGE. Hardware holding the tools in are weak. Torquing a lose crank bolt resulted in many little allen wrenches all over the trail. Never did find them all.

their pocket rocket mini pump is the shit

That bike holder is brilliant. I definitely need one.

My phone would survive about 2 rides mounted to the stem. Maybe.

Looks perfect for pokemon in the park tho

No idea on the cost of those bags? Doing an ultra race next July and I need a set of bike bags, tried panniers but they just swing around too much.

 US Prices are roughly: FrontLoader $89.95, TopLoader $39.95, MidLoader (3.0/4.5L) $59.95/$69.96, BackLoader (10/15L) $99.95/$109.95, Bikamper $259.95

I just got a topeak two way pump w/ gauge and that little thing is awesome.
Premium construction, works really fast, and the gauge is a good little thingy.

Mine beeped and groaned in the toolbox every time it sensed the slightest vibration. Thank goodness the battery finally went dead!

Topeak likes to rip off other companies ideas. Which is not cool. The latest product they have ripped off from Feedback Sports is the Swing-Up DX holder. Feedback Sports sells a velo hinge that Topeak clearly ripped off. www.feedbacksports.com/shop/velo-hinge PSA if anyone really wants to support a company like this. Look at the Feedback Sports products, then look at Topeak. It's pretty gross actually how much they rip off of Feedback Sports sadly.

 topeak ratchet rocket FTW!

Take an 18lb bike, put on 40lbs of weight on it.
  • + 1
Someone seems confused about what 15 degrees of swivel looks like.
  • + 1
It locks in 15 degree increments, I think is what they were trying to say.
  • + 1
Bikes should never be displayed in the smallest cog!
  • + 2
Agreed. ...and the front bag looks like it would BUZZZ the front tire on anything over 50% of travel..
  • + 1
I wish the Topeak Ride Case supported more phones.
  • + 1
 Best floor pump ever.
