The Trailforks 30-Day Ride Challenge starts July 1. Are you ready? We realize riding your bike every day for 30 days straight won’t be easy easy, so we’ve come up with this handy FAQ guide to set you up for success, and perhaps win the Return to Earth Slash bike by Trek and Shimano along with daily prizes from EVOC, Bontrager and Lazer.
Sign up here.
What dates will the 30-Day Ride Challenge run?The challenge will run from July 1 until July 30 inclusive. More specifically, it’s open July 1 at 1:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) to July 30th, 2019 11:59 PM PST.
We realize July has 31 days, so if we refer to “ride for the month of July,” please refrain from commenting the obvious below.
What trails can I ride to make sure my daily ride entries are legit? You can ride and log any trail that’s legal (ie: sanctioned) and recognized by the Trailforks app. That can include singletrack, access trails, machine-groomed trails, dirt/gravel roads, multi-use trails, wilderness trails and a slew of other designations. If you can click on it in the Trailforks app, it counts.
Can I add trails in my area to Trailforks?Yes. Trailforks was founded on user-contributed content and encourages you to do add to it. As long as the trail isn’t trespassing on private property or infringing on prohibited areas where biking is not allowed, you should be able to add trails to the database. For more information on adding trails click
here.
Can I use my Strava app to log my daily rides?Yes, but you’ll need to link your Strava account to the Trailforks app. This can be done in a few easy steps within the app. For more information on integrating Strava and importing your historical data, click
here.
I wasn't awarded a daily badge on my ridelogYou can try to rescan your ridelog for badges, there is a link in the bottom right of the ridelog page when viewing your own ridelog.
Also make sure you weren't already awarded the days badge on a different ridelog, if you submitted more than 1 that day. You can only earn each daily badge once.
Also make sure you rode at least 1 trail, and a trail is listed in the "Trails" section on your ridelog detail page. Partial and reverse trails count as well.
To get a partial trail match at least 50% of your GPS points need to be within 30 meters of the trail. But to be safe you should try to ride the entire trail AS MAPPED on Trailforks, including riding the start and end points. When we say you need to ride 50% for a partial match that is not 50% of the length of the trail, but 50% of your ridelogs GPS points need to "match" the trail, which means be within 30 meters of the trail as mapped on Trailforks. So even for the part of the trail you rode in the real world, some of your GPS points might be outside that 30 meter margin. So riding just 50% of the trail is not a guarantee you will get a partial trail ridelog match.
Can I add my daily rides retroactively? No. The idea of the 30-Day Ride Challenge is to allocate time for at least one ride - of any length - once per day. You can’t ride twice in one day and use those rides to cover two days of the challenge. Make sure your Trailforks app is active when out riding!
I’m a busy guy/girl and I don’t necessarily live next to any trails. How do you expect me to carry out this challenge? We don’t expect everyone in the world to enter, nor do we expect all those that enter to complete the full 30 days. The idea is to see what you can do if you shift around some priorities in your life. It may require adjustment to your routine or setting a daily reminder to ride your bike. We recommend you pace yourself, do a little each day between the bigger rides and give your body a chance to rest as much as possible.
How do I sign up?If you don’t already have it, download the
Trailforks app and create an account (can be done with your Pinbike account credentials). In the drop-down menu, click on "Badges & Contests" and select the 30-Day Ride Challenge and make sure your Badges & Contests region is set to ALL. That’s it!
How do I get my friends to join the Trailforks 30-Day Ride Challenge? We’re glad you asked! We want to build a global movement of mountain bikers changing their daily habits to accommodate more time outside on trails. The best way to accomplish this by old fashioned word of mouth - that’s you talking about the challenge and encouraging your friends to do it. To help you spread the word on social media we’ve created these images for you to share on Instagram, Stories, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and any other social media platform you like to use. Once you’ve signed up and committed to taking the challenge, tag your friends with the hashtag
#30dayridechallenge and get them on board!
How will the grand prize and daily prizes be awarded? Each day during the Challenge, everyone who logs a single entry will be entered into the draw for a daily prize. We will announce these daily winners in two blocks; 15 winners on Day 15 and 15 winners on Day 30. If you complete the entire 30-Day Challenge, you will be entered into the draw for the grand prize - the Return to Earth bike!
Daily prizes: Prize packs will consist of prizing from Pinkbike/Trailforks, Shimano, Trek, EVOC, and Anthill Films. Daily winners will receive a prize pack consisting of a custom Evoc Return to Earth Mission pack filled with: Lazer Impala MIPS helmet, Shimano Saint PD-M828 pedals, Bontrager Bat Cage water bottle holder made from reclaimed ocean plastics, Bontrager XR Elite Grips, Trailforks tee and socks, Return to Earth hat, tee and socks.

Against - July is the middle off the Winter in New Zealand so it's pretty cold and dark
Against - 2 months ago I got diagnosed with heart disease. I was heading straight for a "Widowmaker heart attack" with a 95% blocked L.A.D artery.
For - Modern heart procedures are just incredible and the cardiologist did a great job.
For - My fitness is getting better again
Against - Father of 2 and the wrong side of 40
OK, so my chances are 50/50..... f##k it, I love mountain biking. I'm in.
@ace9: cheers, It took three rides of feeling progressively worse to convince me something wasn't right so it was a narrow escape. Listen to your body people. Looking forward to the challenge.
45 minutes later I'm riding and getting my day 1 badge and already have my first 7 rides planned out.
This challenges SUCKS SO BAD.
I love it!
The article should point out that many regions in TrailForks are managed by a local trail society and they have admin/moderator control over submissions. You can add a trail, but it will need to be approved before it shows, and it may already be in the system, but hidden.
Some land managers wish to keep certain trails off the map for various reasons (environmental, political, etc), so please respect the moderation of your local trail society.
Is showing your buddies where you rode important enough to get a trail system closed down?
I've built trails that are on trailforks now, called the wrong name and i know 100% the person posting did no work.
This is a big problem, new stuff is getting trashed by the masses who do not contribute.
If you get shown a trail by the builder thats a different story.
Letting any f*cking joey post trails is total BS.

There are no new public trails added on the North Shore recently, just some hidden not public data for these reasons:
www.trailforks.com/help/view/22
The only public trails added to the North Shore recently are gravel multi-use paths

PM me if you have concerns about a trail on the maps
1. the closest trail is about 10 km away
2. it is winter here in brazil
3. in the south of brazil where i live is a cold winter
4. my job dont let me
but anyway i love bike i will try it
Day Two - going biking anyway, because it's awesome.
Sounds like something I heared from my prof the other day... Sucks to have something as awesome as this happening right during exams phase....
But honestly I think ist a great Idea to get ppl to realise how much they can actually ride, while still fullfilling all their other Tasks!
Good luck everyone in the contest.
I know the draw was going to be made on 15th July....
Grateful if anyone knows where to find the info.
The majority of trails in my area are labeled "unsanctioned, use at your own risk!" but I can click on them in the app. Do they count?
Come on, is it seriously that confusing???
So I need to ride a legal trail thats sown on Trailforks
The reason why I'm asking is because I started recording my morning ride in my neighborhood, rode 5 miles to get to the trails, recorded the whole ride in the trails, and recorded the 5 mile pedal to work this morning. Despite all that, I didn't get the badge this morning and had to go for a second ride this evening to get today's badge. Any reason why that happened?
"you can fix by clicking the [rescan badges] link at the bottom of your ridelog detail page webpage. But you have to rescan in reverse chronological order. So scan day 3, so the day 2 is removed and day 3 added, which then free's up the Day 2 badge to be added to your July 2nd ride when you rescan it."

But that won't import PAST Strava rides, only future ones going forward.
You can use this tool to import your past Strava rides to Trailforks
www.trailforks.com/ridelog/stravaimport
White level gravel/pavement trails are listed near me which require no driving compared to the real mtb trails that are quite a while away.
Can anyone tell me what the tax and duties would be for a CAD11,500 bike when shipped to New Zealand? I worry that I may not be able to afford to win.
You could also break down the eventual ties to who ever hit the most trails (different trails) over the course of the month.
The trail on the map was a variation of what i normally do, realized only half way and had to go up and do it again
Right, across town and back home now...
Hey! What are good recommendations so that we get the badges without bothering you??! The last two days I have not been given the badges in spite of repeating a loop from badge given days and riding a very similar loop to the ones before today
Cheers! Thank you for the hard work
Thx Pls gib me badge ❤️
I sent them an email yesterday after pedaling 45 minutes to get to a small trail center and failing to get the badge somehow
Oh well, I'll keep riding the competition the way it's supposed to be done... like 8:30pm at night last night with the missus passed off at me leaving abruptly
I only ask because the riding in my area is quite interconnected and i could easily see myself not getting an entire single trail in one long ride.
You can also manually edit your ridelog and manually check-in to a trail you rode.
But I took a look at our ridelog heatmap data and the trail is not accurately mapped on Trailforks, so I'm editing it to follow a more accurate path. I'll rescan your ridelogs, so they should match now.
Is this why I failed?
I had this same issue on the sixth and seventh day of riding, where the trail was incorrectly drawn on the app, especially the sixth day
On the other hand, the rules should be updated and say this percentage thing explicitly. The rules don’t and it’s a crucial piece of information, on the seventh I rode in the dark and connected two trails not knowing this untill now when I just read it. I still think I would have managed the percentage if it were correctly drawn but this was never made a requirement.
Against: family vacation in July; it's been raining basically all spring in the Northeast US.
Outcome: hmmm...
But now I hear that the results will be based on my actual time. So do I lose my Day 1 badge? If I don;t ride again before today, before midnight AEST, will I not gain a day 2 badge? When I ride tomorrow before 17:00 AEST will I gain a day 2 or day 3 badge?
To be honest I think you need to find a way to cater for both as it appears that there has been mixed messages. Personally, I'm going to stick to riding each "Canadian Day", rather than each "Australian Day" as that's the way the rules read to me.
I rode day 1 on July 1, 1:34 PM here in Australia, i got the day 1 badge.
I rode day 2 on July 2 6:32 AM here in Aus, didn't get the day 2 badge
i rode day 3 on July 3 2:59 PM here in Aus, i got allocated the day 2 badge?
Can you guys fix that?
So i got the first 2 badges. But when I go to the leaderbords i don’t see my name in it. What can be the probleem?
King regards

I did my ride about an hour ago. Normally the ride is confirmed after a rough 20 minutes. Might there be something wrong?
Kind regards
Thanks!
I did my ride today but didn’t get my badge. I am still in the running for the 30-day streak. Hope it doesnt stopt cauze off this.

Going to be difficult to win if all my rides are not saved!

Biggest obstacle right now will be connecting Strava to Trailforks. Doesn't seem to be working as easily as described.
Also not stoked that rides have to be public to count. Kind of feels like a shill but whatever.
"Any use of an electronic device to enhance or alter entrants’ odds of winning will count as a fraudulent entry"
