This week the Trailforks.com Team will be at the Mountain Bike Community Zone during Interbike Indoor in Las Vegas, NV. We'll be showcasing the new Free App. If you'll be at the show come on by and let's talk trails, Trailforks and the Pinkbike Directory.
Whether you're in Vegas our not, download the FREE app:
The single most innovative development in the past few years and its free! This might actually get more people on their bikes, whatever they ride, and solve another problem in NA, obesity.
This category of app is certainly a game changer. I've been using mtbproject for a couple years now. It has saved my ass a couple times, pointing the way back to my car as sunset neared.
That is an interesting idea, what would you filter exactly? You can add campsites now, and they will appear in the app. Campsites are added as a specific POI type.
As the President of SNMBA, it was great to sit with Brent and the team of Trailforks and Pinkbike just a few hours ago to discuss how this app can help our community as well as yours. This is going to be an extremely important tool in managing the trails out there and getting a true accurate map of your area as well as logistical data of how much the trails get ridden, when, frequency and if they are local or not (develop a visitor plan), so you can better manage of your trails. This is more than Strava, this is Google Maps for mountain bikers! I can't wait to implement this in our area. Thanks Trailforks! - Erik Montville, President, SNMBA
This app would be great if our local organization didn't ask to hide all the trails from the TrailForks map. Trailforks.com is great! UROC is great! And the app is great! But sadly, not for those of us in Cumberland.
If the builder does not want a trail on a map then one should respect the builder.
My buddy bought a map from a Cumberland bike shop.
He was not impressed.
So I see your point.
It's obviously a lot more complicated than the builder, what with land use agreements and private timberlands. But, the local organizations are amazing so I am not complaining at them, just sad the app does nothing for me.
There is some irony about being able to buy maps for Cumberland at all the local bikes shops, and being able to look at that map online, but not having the trails on TrailForks.
I just moved to Cumberland and I was a little surprised when none of the trails came up on the Trailforks app. I was hoping it would help me get familiar with the trails faster, but oh well. Hopefully something can be done at some point to change it.
Patience, change is coming. UROC is working their asses off so this can change. Trailforks respects the wishes of Trail Associations so they can better manage, cultivate and grow their relationship with Land Managers.
I HAVE BEEN PATIENT! but seriously, I hope it has been abundantly clear that I have no problem with the issues and groups involved. Cumberland is an amazing place and the level of co-operation can be a model to other areas. I just want my maps...lol
