Trans-Cascadia just happened to begin on the first day of Autumn, it just happened to have all sixty-six racers start and finish each stage, and it just happened to wrap-up under a super moon eclipse around a campfire with celebratory stories being shared. Most people are hesitant when it comes to committing to a first year event, it's human nature to want to wait until the kinks are worked out, the details are sorted, and the processes are in place have been practiced. But never has the phrase 'fortune favours the bold' be more true of an event. Those racers who took a chance on the inaugural Trans-Cascadia race were rewarded with four days of memories made around epic rides, social meals, and the occasional bonfire jumping.

Never before have I felt such a "I HAVE TO DO THIS" feeling than after seeing all the coverage for Trans-Cascadia. It seriously looks like the best damn time.

Spent some time in Oakridge this Summer, and that is definitely a place I'd want to hang out with cool people for a week, ride some trails, drink some beers, and enjoy it all.

I hate having to plan good stuff like this around school and jobs...

Does Weir ever NOT have the biggest sh*t eating grin on his face????? Love to have a beer with the man (and maybe a scattered ride as well!).

66 racers and what looks like $20,000 payout to the pros? How much money did the promoter lose on this race? Not trying to be a buzz kill because the race looks awesome.

Entry was $1000 per person so I'm assuming they walked away with at least a little bit.
  • 2 1
$1000 with 66 entries minus a few for bro/sponsor deals and that's still a chuck of change.

The cap was 100 riders so maybe bringing in roughly 60% of the proceeds was a surprise but the extra money is supposed to go to local trail building advocacy groups to build/maintain more trails and nothing about that is mentioned in any of the coverage that I've seen so far. The only coverage of this event has been from paid, sponsored outlets so it's likely the hard questions weren't asked.
