That's why I stay in Colorado, for that kinda money you can get a pretzel and a beer.
  • 4 0
 @racecase: wow one whole pretzel
  • 13 5
Just a few years ago, that much could get you a whole extra wife there!
  • 3 0
it's actually much cheaper in the summer there. Winter prices are insane though
  • 5 3
@Icehawk: I didnt realize wife prices had seasonal fluctuations like that!

@danielfloyd: A whole mini pretzel, and if you're nice to the bartender you might get an extra sample or two of beer.

I live 45 minutes from there! *clicks enter*

@frizzmatt: whats he driving there a 70's charger?
  • 6 0
 same haha.

And summer hotel rates are incredibly cheap. You can get a suite at the freaking Montage for $600/night in July, which goes for $2000/night during the ski season.

A free trip is a free trip, but if you win DV is not a mini Whistler by any stretch.
  • 8 1
hey they have two trails that have good lower sections.
  • 5 0
We can’t all have Whistler in our backyard.
  • 2 0
true but DV is still super fun
  • 1 0
if you enjoy proper dh tracks, deer valley is pretty legit. If you just want flow laps than its ok...
  • 4 0
Glad they got the pic on the only berm in DV.
  • 4 0
 You’re thinking of Park City.
  • 4 1
@gnarlysipes: I’m not been riding there a bunch. It’s called exaggerating. And it’s definitely not that great of a bike park. Bring back the canyons
  • 2 0
@hardkorps: it has lots of berms, but mostly mediocre ones.

I too miss the old Canyons Rally Cat and the GoPro one.
  • 3 0
I'd be happy to have a vacation and get some riding in. Work/life/family is just too busy.

How is biking in SLC area? From NW and no nothing about this place.
  • 2 0
I'm also from the NW (North Bend, WA) and spend a decent amount of time in Park City / Deer Valley area. Deer Valley is a fun bike park...doesn't compare to Whistler but what does? Definitely better than Steven's Pass was and compares well with any other bike park I've ridden in the USA.

The non-bike park trails tend to be more on the flow side, not as much steep tech unless you head to more unofficial trails. Lots of multi-use two-way trails were you need to be more careful with your speed. Great views though, although it always takes me a few days to adjust to riding at 6k+ elevation.

It is going to be different from what you are used to. If you have time to explore, there is a lot of great riding.
In slc proper, I think linking terror ridge to bobsled makes for an awesome ride with some proper tech into some interesting "flow".
American fork has some pretty proper descents with tech.
Corner canyon has good shuttleable flow trails.
I think deer valley has some great tech (but I am comparing this to winter park which quite frankly sucks for tech).
There is a bunch more but those are my highlights.

the only shot of the chairlift has people riding down...
  • 1 0
Yeah, it's a scenic chairlift ride. People without bikes ride up and then ride down.

Just got a season pass. Still entering.
