Brett Rheeder, Ryan “R-Dog” Howard and Mads “Makken” Haugen were at this year’s Taxco Urban Downhill. The Taxco Urban Downhill cuts right through the heart of a historic Mexican mining city. As with any event this unique, the behind the scenes stories are almost as interesting as the event itself. The guys threw down some memorable lines for the fans for sure, but they also made some memories for themselves while there.

Sunrise warms the face of the hill in Taxco.
It all starts up here. There is a quater mile of dirt track run in from the big Jesus then things get seriously rowdy.
What would be a trip to Mexico without eating a few of these. I m up to 23 total for the two days I ve been here.
Rheeder and R-Dog have decided to make a new syncronised tricking competition. Maybe it will become an olympic sport.
Sunsets here in Taxco aren t too shabby.

You can check out the guys riding at the event in a previous edit here.

Surprisingly, that poor girl did not look too happy about having her bedroom wall removed for a bike race....

I thought that was a little too much.... who would be happy about that??? hopefully they got paid a good chunk of money for let the organizers tear up their house...

People in Taxco are hands down the biggest fans of DH in the world. If you ride a bike in Taxco, you're getting laid. I was at the athlete after party (which is one of the craziest ever), and girls lined outside of the hotel hoping to get inside and hook up with the riders. Riders get to sign hats, posters, body parts and babys, and not only super pro riders like Rheeder Makken or r- Dog, if you are on a dh bike on those three days in Taxco, you'll probably sign an autograph or two. That being said, I assure you it was ok for the home owners to have their wall taken down for the event, compensation apart. She was just camera shy.

@mau12; Yeah, I believe that man... I've been down in Brazil before and I know it's a different world down south than here in the U.S. People down there like events like this because it brings life and excitement in to their life. It is something new something to see because life is kinda slow and boring in these neighborhoods. I was down there for 6 weeks to film a U.S.-Brazil military exchange training and the local Military Policia took us to a neighborhood like this with bulletproof vests on. People over there don't do much, just hang out on the streets and wait for something to happen... but when we went in town the girls were all over the Americans too.... so I can see that they would be ok with modifying the house for an event like this....
I still hope the wall was put back and the house was fixed up after the event was over though...

hahah, I like your view.. There are some lazy bums here indeed, but I dont think life is kinda slow here nor that thats the reason for their excitement. I think it is because mtb-dh is so unusual here that when there is an event, people get curious. That doesnt apply to "soccer" though. And the excitement about the americans is 100% true.

Surely this was posted the other day? Does Trek pay to boost it to the top of the news feed much like 'Sponsored' posts on Facebook...

the other day was slightly different and a bit shorter. i dont really see the point though...

True! It's like insecure teenagers that delete their Instagram photos then re-upload them during social media 'prime time' if they don't get enough likes.

@Jervis as disappointing as that is, the instagram thing is actually true. shocking/saddening Frown

Really PB? You put my comment below threshold? All I did was call users out for saying Rheeder was gonna turn Rampage into a Slopstyle Event, based upon what I thought they might say about him racing DH.

Eat dirt...how's that for below threshold!!!
