PRESS RELEASE: Trek Factory Racing

We are proud to announce the roster for the 2018 Trek Factory Racing Enduro team. Coming back to race a full program is Katy Winton, with Casey Brown also racing a number of events. New to the team for 2018 are former Junior DH World Champion Ruaridh Cunningham of Scotland and developing talent Pedro Burns of Chile.

Winton looking for overall wins with a strengthened Trek Factory Racing team

Katy Winton returns to the Enduro World Series after finishing in third place overall last year. Katy is keen to come back strong and climb to the top step of the Enduro World Series podium:

bigquotesI’m stoked to be continuing on the program with Trek again after the success of last year. I'll be looking to build on that and move my way up the podium! Excited to welcome Ruaridh and Pedro onto the team, along with our new partners SRAM and RockShox and Endura for clothing. It's going to be a great season!Katy Winton

Joining Katy for the full season is fellow Scot Ruaridh Cunningham. No stranger to a high level of competition, Ruaridh is ready to tackle his first full season of Enduro World Series racing:

bigquotesI'm really excited to be joining the Trek Factory Racing Enduro team in 2018. Having ridden Trek for the majority of my downhill career, I'm stoked to be back working with such an awesome company as I switch my focus over to enduro. I've really enjoyed the switch up to my training and although many skills from my downhill background transfer over, I also understand I have a lot to learn over the coming months. With the knowledge, support, and equipment we have in the program, I know I have everything I need to make my way to the sharp end of the field in 2018.Ruaridh Cunningham

Testing his talents in the elite category this year is Pedro Burns. After top results in the U-21 category, and a second place at Andes-Pacifico this year, Pedro comes into the season looking to impress.

bigquotesThis 2018 I want to give my best—I am training hard and focusing on what’s coming,” said Pedro Burns. “In the short term, I am looking towards the first round of the EWS, where I’m the local. For the rest of the year, I hope to race as many rounds of the EWS as I can, along with the Chilean Nationals.Pedro Burns

Casey Brown returns to Trek Factory Racing to race select rounds of the Enduro World Series and Crankworx events.

bigquotesStoked to have a rad season of competition ahead of me, with four EWS and four Crankworx it makes for a good balance. On the EWS side I’m excited to be back helping support the team and racing win some wicked cool locations. Crankworx is going to be super fun again with the Queen of Crankworx title up for grabs. Woohoo!Casey Brown

 Whipping skillz.

 Trek - the American bicycle company that never has an American team rider.
  • + 49
 I would not be investing in america these days either

 and makes a grand total of zero bikes in the united states. Maybe one of the SLR road bikes, but none of the mountain bikes since they outsourced the session. I call that a Taiwanese bike company
  • + 28
 @Coldspringer: actually while Trek only makes 1% of their bikes in the States they still make more than any other manufacturer... roughly half of all bikes made in the States come out of Trek's factory in Waterloo...
  • + 14
 What about Gwin ? And, as every other brands, they want the best riders. If they can find who they want in the American field, they look somewhere else. logic.
  • + 18
 Stop crying and cheers for Pedro ????
  • + 5
 @Coldspringer:
Designed in America. Hehehe
  • - 2
 They have always been made by giant's parent company in Taiwan, most of them
  • + 2
 Aaron Gwin isn't American?
  • + 0
 @EKrum: Correct sir. Sh!t is out of control at the moment!
  • - 2
 @EKrum: and why is that???
  • - 2
 @EKrum: Unfortunately the Konsulat of the socialist country you undoubtedly wish the USA was no longer grants exit visas. But you could always defect or seek asylum... oh wait, thats right, you’re 100% free to leave anytime you wish!!!
  • + 2
 Araon Gwinn, Neko Mulally, Mitch Ropelato to name a few off the top of my head.
  • + 4
 Gwin raced for them.... Lance Armstrong raced for them... I could dig deeper but I feel my effort level to correct you would be far more than the efdort you put in for your comment and that's not fair.... Lol
  • + 1
 @Coldspringer: still some awesome riding whips none the less
  • + 1
 Can't think of a better women's EWS rider than Winton? Guess that's why? Not sure about the men's though, must be a fair few?
  • + 2
 am i the only one who realise that america is a huuge continent, who happens to have a south part where chile is located?
  • + 1
 @ctwheeler: Thanks for the education. If I can find any evidence of this I will not feel like such an ass wearing a shirt my friend gave me which says "Trek Bicycles made in USA" on it, though I suppose it is misleading either way.
  • + 1
 @Coldspringer: if you look up the rules of origin, you will see its not that difficult to get a "made in..." status. "Product of...", now that's a whole new level
  • + 28
 cant believe they forgot me, unbelievable ...
  • + 18
 next year man... next year..
  • + 8
 Solid squad! One question however, can someone describe how Mr. Cunningham's given name is pronounced? Thanks!
  • + 2
 Rory

 @Wamprat: Rawry
  • + 9
 @laxguy: isn't is like roo-ah-ree?
  • + 8
 @rocky-mtn-gman: like a dinosaur raaaaaaWRY
  • + 3
 Everybody knows is actually just Roy.
  • + 4
 'Roor'-'A'

Then speed up your pronunciation until it's the same speed as you would say anyone's name so 'Roor'-'A' should then be Ruaridh
Got to roll your 'R's a tad but not too much in that true Scottish sense too :-)
  • + 4
 @laxguy: and when you say his name, you have to hold your hands in front of you like a little t-rex and bare your teeth.
He expects it every time. Don't you raaaaaaWRY?
  • + 2
 @rrolly: it would be rude to address him in any other way
  • + 3
 Get drunk, then say it and it works. Trust me its how I learned peoples names in Ireland.
  • + 4
 Strangest marketing approach in the game, I don't get it. This is the best bike they make yet they hardly sponsor any big names to go win races on it. They hardly sell any dirt jumpers but sponsor the best jumpers besides YT.
  • + 7
 company based in the states with no american riders and a bunch of british components. damn red coats.
  • + 3
 British components?
  • + 18
 And making over 50% off sales outside the US ???? and its about racing and talent and not nationality
  • + 6
 @hairy1976: The DH team is running hope and renthal

 obsessed with the Europeans...theory...its run by a bunch of roadies who think Europeans are the pinnacle of cycling evolution.
  • + 4
 @torrinkozman: considering the DH team is British it makes sense...
  • + 24
 Boohoo, maybe they’ve realise that the world doesn’t revolve round America?
  • + 3
 @torrinkozman: Renthal UK is now owned by Renthal USA since Henry sold it a couple of years back, I used to work for one of the UK distributors and dealt with them every week for 10 years great company to deal with and gray products
Same as hope!

 Is Trek supporting Brendon Edger this year? He is after all The Trek Warrior! Also a force to be reckoned with.
  • + 4
 I think they are, someone in their editing dept just spelled his name wrong. Kind of like in the 1986 action thriller 'Top Gun' starring Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer and everyone's favourite, Tom Skerritt. In one particular scene 'Goose' played by Anthony Edwards noticed that a plaque had his misspelled name on it to which he says 'No no boys, there's two O's in Goose' .

 TREK DUDE: Shit, we've just hired everyone in the Scottish Borders and we need another rider.

ANOTHER TREK DUDE: let's just hire someone else that sounds Scottish.

TREK DUDE: there's this guy in Chile that has a Scottish surname, think he was related to Rabbie.

ANOTHER TREK DUDE: Pedro? He'll do!
  • + 3
 So many reviews on new bikes (geometries) and so on. Every time I see a TREK bike I say this is the real shit. So god damn beautiful and capable. PROPER.

 Another dher switches codes, this time a former junior world champion. The brain drain continues... Mind you, you get to ride in Madeira etc instead of hammering out the same run in lenzerheidhe

 I'd like to be that black dog.

 Gee should retire from downhill and ride enduro

 Just be stoked for all the riders from any country that get to race and travel with a factory ride...its bikes no politics

 @BenPea: look at his picture, he looks like he was just playing for major team in English Football league. I mean it in a GOOD way. Most footballers looked fricking sexy
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: ah.
I'm a little concerned. K. Winton is on this page and you're cheating on her with this strapping young man? PB has jumped the shark this week. I'm going cold turkey.
Only joking.
  • + 3
 @BenPea: I am now infatuated by 2 Trek female riders, I needed a male to balance it out. However Rene Wildhaber is also quite attractive in a way that he looks like this rough, experienced stud that can take you out of oppression, holding you like he never lost a patient. Damn, Gee is damn ripped too. And I like Semenuk, he looks like a bit psychopathic guy, he reminds me of Marylin Manson, seems to me like a rather beatiful mind. What a scuderia Trek has put together... beatiful women and hard studs...
  • + 1
 Then my closest riding buddies ride Trek and work for Trek Bicycle Store... it's almost as if I should better stop whining about Boost 148. Aaand off course the Boost 145 that went under the troll radar like tiny E-motors hidden in flat pedals. Nah I like them only in case Emily and Katy do a tour around Trek Bicycle Stores in Europe and come to Gbg... I mean the rest can come too. If they have to...
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: re the scuderia : Dude, you are off the scale, but I can't disagree entirely.
  • + 1
 @BenPea: could it be that Sam Hill has tiny E-motors in his flat pedals?
  • + 2
 @WAKIdesigns: I can't say it's ever crossed my mind. What's this, personalized trolling? You've gone too far this time!
  • + 3
 @WAKIdesigns: you could whine about BOOST 141 if you like. Go have a look at the Trek Roscoe.
  • + 1
 @BenPea: Always new Waki batted for the other team!
  • + 1
 @bohns1: double agent
  • + 2
 @bohns1: come on, you must admit, Gee is beatiful
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: I only check broads bro!
  • + 4
 @bohns1: you’re right, he’s not exactly Ryan Hemsworth
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: Who's that?
  • + 2
 @bohns1: a brother of Chris Hemsworth, Thor in The Avengers, who’s a damn nice piece of a cookie himself.
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: Jesus man ur talking Russian to me... I killed my tv long ago bruh! ????
  • + 2
 @bohns1: My creatine is out for fks sake, I'm going to kill somebody!!! Can you believe that in Sweden, the Olympic monohydrate costs 30$ while in Poland, the exactly same product costs 8$. And it's harder and harder to get pills, they sell it mostly in powder now, I have nothing better to do than measure how much sht should I take... What the fuk! World is going down...

BTW The avengers is more of a cinema thing, not TV... it will be on TV, no earlier than in 2 years. And it's terrible. Super hero shmeeero, holy crap, what people feed to their brains.
  • + 2
 @WAKIdesigns: "what people feed to their brains" -> "My creatine is out for fks sake, I'm going to kill somebody!!"
You do the math Smile
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: Testosterone and armidex is just forum away!
  • + 1
 @bohns1: nah, it's too much hassle with testosterone over here. Swedish big daddy is looking over us too much. So I'd have to get it from that dumb looking dude with big duffel bag instead of going to the fkng doctor like it's done in US.
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesignsBig Grin amn! You guys are getting shafted! Gonna suck to grow old without it!
  • + 1
 @bohns1: the biggest problem is to get the proper tests done to determine the dosage. I mean the initial tests and then the follow up to see how the body is responding.
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: it's easy i get it done every 4 months.. But I work at the fire dept.. All those over 40 boys for the most part are on therapy.. 250mg a week will have you back to 22 year old levels and beyond.. Just got to keep the cholesterol ldl levels in check and make sure estradiol is in check and your a new man mate!
  • + 1
 @bohns1 I spoke about it with a doctor from US and he said that it’s a no brainer to take it after 40, but it’s important to not go over the “regular” levels that is around 25-30yr old, and observe the results regularly (according to him teenage testosterone is an utopia, and not exactly a healthy state - there is a reason he said that dudes have two periods with high risk of cancer and premature ejaculation, that is 20-25 and then 50 onwards) He said that you should be able to stop the “therapy” anytime with minor drawbacks in mood and sexual performance. I can add from own interest in psychology that 15-25yr olds have it surely cranked up a bit too much since nature equips them with tools and motivation to fight with guys and bang chicks, which is not exactly necessary at 40, where you just want to have fun doing sports with relatively stud body. Having said that I’ll be looking into it soon.
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: all the over 40 guys and even younger that I know in the department taking it are on another level in terms of mood, well being, and ridding themselves of the dreaded dad bod! Have not seen an issue yet of them wanting to fight.. Although laying the Mac down on women nearly half their age goes without saying! It's a great time we are living in! Ha
  • + 1
 @bohns1: are they taking shots or edibles?
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: Shots only man.. Edibles are to hard on the liver.. Docs only do shots.. Armidex to control estradiol aromatization is oral however.
  • + 1
 @bohns1: then I can only get it on black market and in such case how do I know what I get
  • + 1
 @WAKIdesigns: Well I'll give you a hint.. Checkout a forum called Meso-rx... Tons of education and information as to how to obtain for your area in terms of sourcing.. Probably the best forum out in that regard.
  • + 1
 @bohns1: thanks!
  • + 1
 Grande Pedro!
