Turquoise Domination Revisited - Enduro World Series, Round 5 - Winter Park

Jul 27, 2014

The Enduro World Series logo consists of many colours, yet this weekend it was saturated with turquoise. In front of a home crowd for Yeti, Jared Graves and Richie Rude were nothing less than dominant, between them, winning every single stage this weekend. In a season where the winners have been separated by a handful of seconds over more than an hour of racing, they were 18 seconds clear of the competition in just 44 minutes on track.

Anne-Caroline Chausson opened her account today with a second on stage six losing some of her overnight lead to Tracy Mosely.

One of the last women down stage six went down hard the last word we heard was that she head head and pelvis injuries but was in a stable condition in Denver hospital. That kind of injury meant a big course hold and several of the men came through without times so in the interests of fairness all the men who came down before the course hold took re-runs on the brutally physical stage six.

Crushingly fast. The debate whether or not Richie Rude belongs in Enduro can be put to rest. Three stage wins and second place overall. Richie Rude is just damn talented on a mountain bike.

This was a big weekend for Bryan Regnier. His eighth place makes him the first of the Frenchies no small honour when you consider their depth of talent right now.

Eyes set on the challenge ahead. Rene Wildhaber has been steadily picking up speed all season. Now with a new carbon steed and another third place finish could the Swiss Muscle be in line for an overall win on steeper terrain

Rudes obviously an A-Class enduro racer but it just kills me that the beastly dude isnt racing WC DH right now. He got the skills and is literally built like a yeti. He'd be a dominant force on the DH circuit.

Dickies and a Fanny Pack, sooooo Enduro.

Hell yes, now I dont feel so redneck for wearing $17 Dickies instead of $80 mtb shorts!

That's tight. There's a problem with your gloves though--the fingertips aren't exposed. Either way, keep fighting the good fight. America will be back on top one day.

oh man, and a gravity dropper

I assume all the gravity guys can't stand that fitness and speed are the difference maker for enduro. Notice the photo of Graves doubling up on the stage, he looks like a track rider.

I assume that Enduro is dominated by gravity related guys, not XCers. A top 20 DH kid beats results of few times XC world champion so...
  • 3 0
Gravity guys that can also pedal and have legs like large deer.

@enduropierogi--you do realize that Graves is/was a gravity rider? As is/was Rude, Anne Caroline, Mosley, CG, Lopes, etc. etc.. The top 20 Pro DH riders would finish very high in a cat 1 XC race. I raced the Masters 40+ class and the top 10 there are in very good shape.

People who say that graves won cuz of the bike is like saying gwin lost cuz of his bike. Both of them are top pros and have what it takes to win and sometimes lose. Blameing their bikes for their successes or failures doesn't hold much weight in my opinion.

It has more to do with Yeti making the bike to Graves specs/preferences for geometry and fit than it does the new suspension design.

Yeti couldn't have had anything go any better! Awesome job by Graves and Rude!
  • 8 3
If rude was an incredibly hairy individual, he could literally be mistaken for a Yeti. #Yeti-on-a-Yeti

Hard to believe that Richie Rude was just a JUNIOR just a year ago?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats one big fast kid. Wait until he adapts just a little more. USA domination will ensue!

Graves rules. He will continue winning for a while. cool dude. Yeti is a cool team too.

Love or hate (love) the new bikes, we will be talking about this for a while. It was certainly the perfect storm for Yeti.
