Park Update: Hafjell Bike Park, Norway

Aug 18, 2015
by Hafjell Bike Park
After a turbulent 2014 with threats of closing and a great World Championship, Hafjell Bike Park in Norway is now set for the future and running better than ever. Now half way in to the season, a good amount of visitors has made the park management happy with how the season is going.

With the absence of the UCI event this year, the park has been able to do some other fun events including a Norwegian Cup race and the Full FEST, an action packed weekend with the FEST Series crew. Edit from Full FEST dropping soon.

Freeride legend Trond Hansen is still killing it on the bike, and loves spending his summers in Hafjell. Check out his POV edit 'Shredabilities', showing some of the fastest and most flowy trails in the park with style.

Plans for the future are coming along nicely, stay tuned for some exciting news for 2016!

The Bike Park is open every weekend until October 4th, so there's still a lot of riding left up north this year.

I travelled all the way from Australia to Norway a few weeks ago to ride at Hafjell and the park was closed during the week Frown

16,000km's from home and I couldn't ride there during my stay... All I could do was laugh at my own stupidity!

Good News. Hafjell in Summer is one of the best Places on Earth.

Roller Coaster is probably the best jump trail out there. Whistler included. Flow flow flow. vimeo.com/68807436

Yeah, compared to Shimano in Are it's something next. We rode Rollercoaster first and then we visited Are, first jump on Shimano -> overshot more than 4 meters. Anyway, Scandinavia is so good, pitty it's quite expensive for us. Glad to hear Hafjell is doing well, people there were so friendly and kind.

Now they just need to extend the opening hours of the lift and open some bars in the village. Because there is absolutely nothing to do there after the lift closes.

This is such great news. I rode there in 2009 and loved the place. Can't wait to go back someday.

Ratboy gave that much in less than a week there last year...might need more than a foot for a month of it! Wink

Was there this past Sunday and it was more busy than usual which is a good thing, because you rarely wait in any line at Hafjell. Great trails, I hope the business allows them to build additional trails in the future.

@Pininator , I'm pretty sure mr kohut is also wheelchair bound, maybe that's the joke...

@Socket - Stacy is a legend - seen many of his segments in freeride/dh vids over the years. I more-or-less sensed he was referencing Ratboy's mishap at worlds last year. If not, that would be one hell of a coincidence. Smile

Absolutely LOVED the world cup races there. Hope we see it back in 2017.

Kind of bummed it's not on the calendar this year, but at least Lourdes and Lenzerheide delivered in its place. Val di Sole returning helps with the coping, too!
