Video: UR Team at Crankworx Whistler

Garbanzo DH
Jamie Nicoll came 13th on the 13min gnarly Garbanzo DH. A great result for him just after racing the EWS series in Whistler last weekend. And he did it on his enduro bike! Probably the highest ranked rider racing it "enduro-style" !

Air DH
Mick wins his first race back from his injured shoulder. What a confidence booster for the end of the season for him. Tracey Hannah came in really quick too taking 3rd place in the Elite Women class. Fabien Cousinié had a great ride into 5th place and if that wasn't enough he even proposed to his girlfriend Magalie in the finish arena dressed with a shirt and bow tie! Of course she said yes and this topped off this great day of racing. Aurélien and Guillaume were also racing, taking home 15th and 31st.



Whip Off
Sam was up on the hill to sail the UR flag. He put on a good show making it into the top 20 riders on course. A great atmosphere and thousands of fans made it into an awesome event.


Pumptrack
Fabien and Aurelien took part in the Pumptrack Challenge on Thursday evening. They qualified well, Fabien taking the 11th spot and Aurélien 18th out of 32 riders qualified. They fought well but got pushed out in the first round for Aurélien and 1/8 final for Fabien.

Dual Slalom
Here too, Aurélien and Fabien were there to represent the team. Fabien qualified in a really good 10th place and Aurélien in 16th. Aurélien unfortunately lost out on his first round. Fabien got all the way till the 3rd round and lost to Bernard Kerr.

Joyride Slopestyle
Sam was in Whistler with the main objective to do well at the Redbull Joyride Slopestyle Diamond FMB Tour event. Unfortunately after some good training, he had a crash and tore a tendon in his foot making it too sore for him to ride the huge jumps and be on his A-game for the finals. He chose not to ride in order to come back strongly at the Bearclaw invitational next week.

Canadian Open
The last event of this action packed week was the Canadian Open. Tracey rode really well and got the win! She even pulled a whip on the last 50ft jump into the finish area. This is a real confidence booster before Méribel World Cup finals next week in France. Mick rode conservatively into 6th place, not wanting to crash. He is definitively back and ready for Méribel and Hafjell World Champs. Guillaume also raced, but was a bit off the pace, getting a 13th place.



Overall this was a great week for the team with lots of things going on! The crowds that attended the races were huge and added to the good results, this really makes the trip to Whistler worth while!

The Hutchinson UR DH team flies straight to Méribel in France for the World Cup finals. Polygon UR are off to the Bearclaw invitational with Sam Reynolds and Trans-savoie with Jamie Nicoll.
