Giant Slalom is a pretty unique event, especially when compared to its more commonly seen relative Dual Slalom. It's really all up to you. You're on a course by yourself, with nothing but your own brakes slowing you down. When the time comes you have to choose how fast to go, and in turn that decides what position you finish it. Here's a video that Ambrose Weingart put together showcasing the US Open's Giant Slalom course, and event.
Check inside for the video...The Giant Slalom course here at the US Open is a pretty unique design. Dodging through the woods, railing berm after berm the Giant Slalom course is designed to test your abilities to go as fast as possible, and still hold onto your bike through the hard packed corners. Scattered throughout the course is a couple doubles to either jump, pump, or scrub, all of which will give you a different final result. Further down the track there is a small step down/roller leading into another high berm, which directs you into a step up, step down to the course finish line. Giant Slalom is really a test of your own mental strengths and physical abilities, and the course here at Diablo Freeride park all of the riders skills and abilities.
Over the weekend we have collected footage in order to provide you guys with a visually stimulating video that would express exactly what the Giant Slalom course is all about. Here is the finished product, edited together by Ambrose Weingart.

but seriously, great vid.
As its says above; "...the Giant Slalom course is designed to test your abilities to go as fast as possible."
I care if I can make it over a roller or through a berm, where did I say it doesn't take skill & power? My comment isn't *bad word* I really am rubbish, if you saw me ride you would see just how rubbis I really am...
